I have just purchased a set of M2 performance DMS 40mm shocks. I need to know if anyone has a suggestion for a good shop to install them in the Chicagoland or near Chicagoland area. I will also have to have alignment adjustment so someone that is knowledge about autocross setups would be helpful. Anyone have an idea of price for installation and alignment? Also while I am doing this modification I would like to replace the engine and transmission mounts. Has anyone performed this mod or how much people have payed to have this done.
Thanks, Daniel The Blue Max lives!

Try posting in the Suspension forum. Gtguy (Kevin) is perhaps the most knowledgable guy about DMS in Chicago. He used to have a set of the DMS Gold 40 mm.
He can provide some excellent advice about the install, as well. If your a DIYer, I'd be happy to donate my time. I've done several suspension installs on Honda's, so lots o experience. I'd also like to see what it's like to install the DMS's, since I'm planning to add them one day. About the alignment, contact Eric (Godmal on I-club). I just got an alignemnt from him and he is VERY good. Several others here would probably agree. HTH Mike ![]() |

Where do you live? If you're inclined to come out to my place in Highland Park, I have air tools and would be happy to help you out. It's very easy, actually. The potential pitfalls are orienting the camber washers the wrong way, and just not having everything tight enough.
Plan on (if we do it) about three hours. You will need: zip ties for the brake lines, and that's it. Let me know. I have some time this weekend, and it should be warm enough for us to toil in the great outdoors. Kevin |

Kevin,
Hi. I live at hyde park and was thinking of purchasing some DMS golds. What will I need? Buy DMS package....where can I get the best price/ GDA top mounts/ GC8 rear mounts? What's next and what else? I could drop by to help out as well. If it is next week. Do I need camber plates? Sigh, I know nothin about setting up suspensions. Cheers Nick |

I would get them from Dave Clark, but that's just me. The problem with Dave is that he's a racing shop, so there might be times you need him, when he's off rallying. Prices are consistent. There's somebody looking to sell a set in Private Classifieds, but he's asking more than what a new set costs.
![]() The other thing to consider is what DMS setup you want. If you're never going to see off-road, the M2, with its higher spring rates and stiffer rebound damping might be good for you. If you go this route, M2 performance and Teague's Auto are the only sources, as far as I know. You won't need camber plates. For the rear, you'll need to decide what camber you want, however. But DMS now supplies all three washers with the setups, so you don't have to pre-select camber washers. I used the STi strut tops for the WRX instead of all that GC8 rear/knocking pins out business. This might be the only option now however, which would be too bad, though I suppose DMS knows better than I do. Kevin |

Thanks. What do you think about Teins. They are a lot cheap and come with PBMs that do away with strut tops? M2 is so nice, wish I had the money.
ARe you guys going to the A-spec shop in Fullerton? Seems to be the spot for Chicago guys without going up north. If not, is there a local gathering spot? Thanks for your help. Nick |

Now that you mention A-Spec, I'm sure you could buy the M2 DMS coilovers from them (they are a M2 dealer) and I bet the install wouldn't be bad either. Of course there are lots of helpful I-Club guys in the area to help with installs if you want to do it yourself.

Thanks Kevin, I live in Lincoln Park and would be greatful for your help. I called M2 today and said the order should be in about two weeks from today. If you email me I will email you about a tentative date when they are in route. By the way do you have any suggestions about motor and trans mount installations, price and good shop?
Thanks, Daniel The Blue Max jackalone@mindspring.com |

Hey Dan,
We can hang around for awhile if you want. I gotta go pick up a friend around 8:30, but your welcome to tag along and take a ride in my REX. We'll probably grag a bite to eat and go to Kincaids for the evening. Anyways, dial my mobile if you want. 773.255.2048 Mike ![]() |

Completely unrelated to your topic - but I used to live in LP at Halsted and Armitage. Used to work at The Ultimate Party Store on Armitage and Sheffield (no longer there). Fun area. Good luck with the DMS install.
