Default The winter we had + damage to STis caused by the snow/temps?

Just curious, if a car was outside all winter (in this case an STi), could the winter we had this year do any damage to it? Theres one I'm looking at buying, but the owner says it has been kept outside its whole life (2006), and it was kept outside during the entire winter. Just wondering if this is a cause of concern, either cosmetically or mechanically?

Thanks!

mine was kept outside all winter and is fine. so long as the coolant didn't freeze and the battery is good you will be fine. cosmetically just glance over the paint for imperfections, and look at the tires, make sure they are not cracked on the sidewalls. if you feel like crawling around look under the car for unwanted rust or bent things, just to get an overall feel for how the car was maintained and treated.

Majority of all cars are kept outside as most people don't have in-door garages... it'll be fine. You're not blind right? You can check for cosmetic damage.

I know subaru paint is quite medicore... should I worry about that at all? Or any rust/etc to important parts of the car?

I definitely will be thorough about checking for cosmetic damage. Just wondering if it could cause non-visible damage that progressive gets worse, I suppose.

:P I dunno, maybe i'm paranoid

This. Mine is living outside 24/7 in ellensburg this winter. When it's really cold (like in the 20s or below), I notice slightly slower cranking but I haven't had a problem yet.

Of course it can. Bird poop, acid rain, fallout....etc etc. Generally something a nice detail can fix though bird poop, water spots can and will etch into the clearcoat, sometimes beyond repair.

Hey AllWheels, I agree. I actually curse my audi, because I have had SO many problems with it, it has made me paranoid about buying a new car. I think am I sorta starting to relax a bit. I'm almost 100% positive that once I buy the car, I will be completely satisfied. =D

lmao man calm down about the car being out side the weather will not harm the car's paint or any other part of the car unless its a volcano, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, or something that god would muster up. My car has had over 100* with 100%humidity and below 30* weather around it and it hasn't even thought of doing anything other then work properly. So dont worry it will run like J-Lo in the sack if the car hasnt being threw any of the things i said before.
