Default reflash to stock?

if a car was tuned on open source but a utec is going to be installed and tuned, does the car have to be flashed back to stock through open source before hooking up and tuning the utec?
also, what is the purpose of the plug that goes to a 9v battery?

That 9v battery plug is so you can play with the utec outside of the car.

Can't say about the open source tune. If it was mine, I'd go back to stock ecu before tuning the utec.

9 volt in is so you can hook the UTEC to your desktop computer out of the car and flash firmware or load maps.

The open source tune depends on what you want to do, and what has been "tuned" in the opensource tune. The two tuning systems are quite compatible. The OS tuning allows you to tune maps that the UTEC cannot access, and the UTEC allows switching maps on the fly.

You do not need to go back to stock flash if you car was tuned with open source. You just have to remember to properly set up your utec if you decide to use OPEN LOOP FUELING.

What ever you program into the utec is what the utec will do, it doesn't care about the stock ecu. The only place I see over lap is if you base your utec fuel map off your stock ecu map (not using OPEN LOOP FUELING). The other over lap is anywhere you have ecu (use stock ecu value/signal) programmed into your utec map.

Bcblues and Nitros are right. The UTEC will work with an open source flash. I've read many people having great success with it. I just haven't messed with it myself. I guess I should have said, I would prefer to know what was done with the open source tune.
