Unhappy Stolen Car! 2004 BMW 325 Ci Convertible

2004 BMW 325 Ci Convertible

License Plate 789 GLM

It's a dark blue car with a tan interior.

Car was parked in a camera-monitored parkade last night around 9:30pm, woke up an hour ago to find the car missing. The concierge is looking into the camera situation right now to see what time it disappeared at. It's ****ed up because this has never happened in this parkade aside from a few minor break-ins. The police and ICBC have been contacted as well.

If anyone sees a car that matches the description (I know it's pretty much identical to every other car on the road) that has this plate number, PLEASE PLEASE contact me at 778.384.6385.

Thanks a lot guys...

I won't get any updates on the video until tomorrow because the guy who is at the front desk on the weekends is a n00b and has to wait for his superior to show up tomorrow so he can access the tapes and such.

It almost seems like an inside job because you need to get through two gates to access the car. It is possible to follow a car through the first one if you're behind someone else that is going in, but it is impossible to get through the second gate by following someone else in.

Guest parking is through the first gate, and it is entirely possible that someone was waiting to follow someone in from a guest parking spot through the second gate. But it would seem obvious to report something like that. People are way too oblivious nowadays though, so who knows...

It also could have been a resident as well who might have some sort of grudge against me. My Golf, which is parked three spots over, always has stuff written by hand on the dirty glass that says "you suck" and stuff like that, but only once every other month or so.

Anywho, there really isn't much I can do right now except to keep an eye out for parts being sold off the car online and such.

Just feeling super violated right now.

Fingers crossed that doesn't happen. It will then turn into a legal nightmare I'm sure.

Either way, this has NEVER happened in this parkade before, which makes me wonder why this would happen now all of a sudden and to this car (which has over 160k on the dash and nothing of value inside the car...hell, it's also an automatic!). There are also a ton of nicer cars around, and a few cars that would be easier to break into.

Ugh...hoping this doesn't drag on forever. Realistically speaking, I don't think I'll be seeing this car again. ICBC is already asking who I want to inspect the car if it's found. Mentioned the stealership for what it's worth.

I have a feeling that, if this happened ONLY to you, and you claimed that your golf was being repeatidly harassed, it must be someone from the inside who has a grudge against you no doubt.

Do you have any clue as to who might be targeting you?

No idea, unfortunately. I'm never around, and I always drive carefully and act friendly to those I run into around my building, so I have no clue.

Still hoping for the best.

you like your german engineering lol. i think that would be pretty obvious if it was someone from the out side. cause your cars got a factory imobilizer and thats pretty damn hard to bypass, so they wouldnt have been able to start it. i think someone would have noticed a tow truck trying to sneek in behind them

Sorry to hear that, there seems to be a lot of parkade theft going on. One of the cars in my parkade got broken into and keyed all over. There was also a bunch of stolen car goods including stolen insurance papers dumped in a corner of our parkade Good luck with that and ICBC.

Thanks guys. No luck yet. A few people have mentioned talking to a lawyer due to possible negligence on the behalf of building security. I dunno though. I've never been one to sue...

But I figure it might be worth it to seek an opinion. I just want to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. This did happen in Coal Harbour, and it sickens me to think that someone could just waltz in and steal a car.

Management is also keeping this under the radar. Since this has happened, I've seen two cars waiting at the bottom of the first gate to go in when someone leaves. Security is definitely a problem and it shouldn't be. Any suggestions?

I would write a letter to the property management outlining your concerns. I don't know if there is much they can do, but at least there's a formal complaint

property management should get involved and make it more publicly aware so people care about it more.

my old apartment (brand new at the time) had 6 VW's stolen in 1 week!!!!!

caught the guy, but still 6 cars stolen from the same damn lot in 1 week is rediculous, it didn't help people let their fobs in the car.

but ya I would check what can be done to A get compensation of some sort considering Im sure they claim secure underground parking, and B it should be made public to all building tenants/owners so they can be more diligent.

Where a bout's what the vehicle stolen from ?
I know it was in your Locked compound but more so what area of Van >?
Often stolen vehicles from a particular area will end up a secondary common area . .
Ie) North Langley cars often end up in Aldergove Chilliwack Border

Hey guys. Good news! Car was recovered today and it sounds like it only has a minimal amount of damage done to it. More details to come, as we still don't have it back in our possession.

Did you ever get to see the video, and do you have any idea who took it?

Good to see it's back, but the engine/tranny have probably had their fair share of abuse .

We did get a chance to view the video, with a clear shot of the guy who took it. I can't obtain that however to post it up all over the net, hah.

Anyways, RCMP said that the exterior of the car is fine form what they can tell, but it is clear that the outside lock was picked and most of the stuff inside is fine. They're towing it to the adjuster in Coquitlam tomorrow where they will inspect it themselves before determining whether or not it will be a write-off (I'm 90% sure it won't be).

The car might've even been used in a robbery haha, who knows. Anyways, I've already called up all the BMW stealerships and have received shop names whom their labour is outsourced to, so the next step is a full set of thorough inspections.

I'm gonna make sure not to sign off with ICBC on anything until I have a little time to figure out if anything is askew, that's all I know at this point.
