Yeah, bad. It needs some TLC. Last Sunday I took it out back, washed it, and waxed it with some random product. The oxidation, and some of the blemishes, mostly came off, but I need something more serious. I'm obviously not the anal care detailing guy, so something quick and easy is great, but I need something potent. The paint feels rough, not smooth, and there are plenty of scratches and stuff. I'm not going for looks or the car show shine, more for paint health and longevity.
What do you guys recommend? Bonus points for something readily available at Kragens or Autozone.

meguiars swirlX, scratchX and a lot of elbow grease. top with duragloss 105, 101, or 111 (available at carquest and some other places)
if you wanna step it up... menzerma 203 and a porter cable/udm/flex. nice 1 step process that will do wonders. http://www.autogeek.net/menzerna-polish-po203.html |

If the paint feels rough to the touch you need to use a clay bar, after you wash it, but before you wax it. The clay will pick up and remove all of the bonded contaminents on the paint, leaving you a smooth surface to then apply you wax/ sealant onto.

I'm 100% sure you need a clay bar. Mother's bar is usually in most stores, avoid Turtle Wax's bar.
