I had the footwell illumination kit in blue on my 2009 impreza 2.5i hatchback before she was totaled, I now have a 2008 impreza in dark gray metallic and getting the footwell illumination kit installed on it in blue again. I loved the way it looked. HIGHLY recommend this cheap, nice upgrade.

Anyone know a easy way to install the illumination kit installed on a 2012 non WRX/STI impreza?

Maybe I'm retarded but I took the whole stereo trim out of my 2009 Forester XT, to get to the wires, took out the cubby light and I couldn't find any extra connectors for the driver and passenger LED's. I disconnected the Cubby light and followed that harness back and found nothing.

this is supposed to take 25 mins? I got no where. I just gave up and put it back together. I'm stumped.

*****Turns out I am retarded....the harness that I was looking for was still in the box.*******

I noticed you ordered two separate kits (part numbers). I have a 2012 Subaru Sport (non WRX). I do not have a cubby light. Do you know if the footwell illumination kit will work with the non WRX model?

Also, does H201SSC100 only come with drivers side and passengers side lights?

Thanks

This kit is for 2012 model http://www.subarupartswebsite.com/OE...701SFJ100.html

however the $40 kit will work as well if you tap into the glove box light instead of the cubby hole light.

yes just the front footwells are lit

just installed this on my 13 wrx

An easier way to go about this is to simply use mounting tape, similar to the 3m one that comes in the kit.

cut a piece off the same size and attach ur light anywhere u want.

you wont have to deal with the screws and washers and u can adjust it to any positiion whenever you want to, just tape it again.

Thanks for the post.. with all contributions and pictures i was able to install the red footwell kit, and replace my blue cubbie light witht he red one in about 20 minutes. Using a straightend coat hanger to fish the wires from the dash to the footwells really cut down on time. Thanks again guys!

News Install in a 2009 impreza

I put these in in about 15-20minutes. you can easily reach everything. running the wires can be a bit hard bc of the tight spaces but I have wired up all my amps and dvd players for this car so I am familiar with the metal tier bracing behind the dash and that aided me in finding the wires a bit easier. the flashlight was a life saver.

I have a red illumination kit and cubby whole light all together was about 60$ from the dealer. I couldn't get a straight answer from Subaru about the correct part number for the red cubby whole light so I went and bought it from them personally so if it was amber and not red they could take it back and order me the right piece. This is an easy install, anyone should be able to do this. if you are a complete noob it may just take you a bit longer, no biggy.

the kit is not very bright on the passenger side- in my opinion. may just be bc im on the driver side and my legs on the pedals reflects the light up, not sure. or maybe its bc there is a huge cavity behind the glove box and the light isn't being forced down. i am going to attempt a bracket to go over top of the light to shine light down or maybe some dynomat. after a bit more tinkering if i come up with anything i'll post a how-to.

I took a pic but without an extended exposure you cant really tell. the other inside lights are quite a bit brighter.

also on the drivers side the light has a tendency to shine up through the steering wheel whole. cant see it when you drive. i am going to get a piece of plastic and some plastic weld or gorilla glue and put me a little shark fin on the top side of the light to hide this. simple fixes for a simple project. dont over-think it, it truly is a plug and play operation.
-good luck

oh, and the passenger side will work a bit easier if you have a short extender on a small socket for the nylon nut. there are some plastic channels you have to fight with and doing it blind is a bit hard but with some patients u can get it. I would say that this was the hardest part for me.

You can make it work, but because theres no cubby light so you have to tap into the glove box light by extending the correct wire.

I had a red LED strip installed when I had my Sound System installed. Looks great and I watched them install it and it took 2 minutes.

Hey guys,

I have a 2011 WRX that come with the blue footwell illumination kit, and I want to change the bulb color to red since it'll match the overall theme better. Can anyone direct or link me what part to buy and how to install it?

So, I have a 2013 Impreza Sport and purchased the red illumination kit. The instructions are severely lacking for me... I don't have a center cubby light. That's normal, right? So I need to tap into another source? Are there any good, clear writeups on a non-WRX model?
Thanks!

I see that this is old, but no one responded. You can't just swap bulbs. Theses are LED. If you want red, you need to purchase the red kit or trade with someone who wants blue.

I believe the kit for the 2013 is different than the ones for 08-11. Which kit did you get?
