Cuz it was super cheap and I have heard of success stories using this cable. I spent 15 bucks on it, instead of 170 for the Tactrix, so until I burn through 155 bucks worth of my time, I'll keep working with this cable.

No, I don't have a map. I need to pull my map from my car first so I can start tweaking it because it's a good baseline. I can't drive the car because for one, it doesn't stay running (just stumbles), and two because it's a fresh rebuild and I don't want to drive around with my old and busted tune.

I live on the northwest side, near Alpine and Leonard.

Most likely a driver issue. Did a disk come with it.

Anybody have any Wheels 17x7 et48 +/-5mm 5x100 PCD, they might want to sell at some point? The lighter the wheel the better. Looking for an extra set for racing slicks for the BRZ, for Stock AutoX Class.

Yep, it did, but I completely neglected it because everything I heard was that I needed to run the FTDI drivers. I'll try that disc tonight and see if it's any different.

Yeah I have had nothing but problems with the Prolific drivers. But I don't think the vag com uses those.

Either spend the money and get a working tactrix cable, or go get a pro tune. If you just had your motor rebuilt I'm sure that you spent a good amount on it, and I'd rather spend the extra money than risk bricking the ECU or damaging the motor.

Just my .02

It's not a cable issue. Chris Cooney was using a vagport cable and it was fine. Tactrix cables and Access ports are over priced pieces of metal and plastic. Plenty of peeps are using vagports successfully.

If those worked on my car I would be all about it.

You aren't going to brick the ecu or damage the motor any easier using the vag com over the tactrix, they are both open source tools they have the exact same risks associated with them. The vag com just has some touchy drivers that don't always play well with windows 7 and rom raider.

BTW the entire open source tuning started out because people didn't want to pay hundreds for a protune.

I have another vag port laying around if you think it's the cable it's yours.

Open source for the win!

I would assume they would have to use the Jumper Blocks. The 02/03 and 04/05 have to use the Jumper block to put the ECU into Test Mode, so that you can actually make changes to the ECU.
