Yeah I didn't think about OS but I also was in the mindset of tuners = handheld. I know there was the utec and some others that never really took off.

I feel that having used both the AP and open the AP is worth the extra $250 over the price of the tactrix cable. Personal opinion of course but with all their new stuff... hard ti compete.

I'm going open source because all I will be doing is a simple stage 2 from rom raider (everyone else seems to think otherwise...) and I don't wanna spend $400 for an AP to just sit in my glovebox. I'm gonna shoot for Arch4life's road tune sometime in the spring I think. I hear good things.

Especially if you can borrow a friends Tactrix. That makes going OpenSource absolutely worth it. Also, Lenger apparently does tuning at their facility and I'm inquiring about SpeedDensity currently.

Rob and Aron, I mentioned this link last time at Founders. It's easy to use and super worthwhile to use while tire shopping so you can as closely match your stock tire rollout.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I ported my TGV's the other day at work. tigwerks got ahold of me Tuesday and said that my package never shipped last week because his girlfriend was supposed to take care of it, but apparently my PayPal address didn't have an address linked to it (total BS, my address is verified ), so she never sent it and took a week to tell him that it never sent. So, I'm hoping for that package to show up today. If it does, I'll have a weekend full of fun pulling my intake and exhaust and going to town on that.

I figure while I have my intake manifold off, I'll go through and shave and smooth anything I don't need, and also make a vacuum manifold so all of my lines are centralized and cleaned up. I think I can hide that and my fuel manifold under the intake so it's all hidden. I'm also going to do another revision (I'm already on my third) on my fuel manifold to get rid of the return lines from my fuel rails.

I have to make a couple risers for my big ass Hyperflow because the passenger side is rubbing on the intercooler for almost the entire length of the support. I'm also going to machine a BOV Block Off plate for if I ever go Speed Density, then I'll just block that off and run no BOV.

And lastly, I have to run all my wires again for my AEM UEGO to get ready for tuning. I need to weld in a new flange on my downpipe because the one on it now is warped and leaking like a damn sieve.

Busy weekend! Hopefully my parts are here so I can make it a productive one, otherwise I'll be spending my extended weekend coming up doing all of this, and the missus would probably not enjoy that.

The above makes me wish I didn't have to work so I could tag along and learn a lot about these cars.

Why? Stage 2 isn't that big of deal, I'm doing it to my DD. Stage 1 seems like a waste of money.

xEleventy Billion

In my opinion, Stage 2 is perfect for a daily. Hell, my daily will have the tune pushing my turbo to its limit.

makes me nervous on reliability of the motor on stage two, once you remove the cats, its a completely different ball game. A lot more maintenance and you have to get an external wastegate in order to get the boost down a bit (my friend said).

Haha stage 2. You won't need ewg with a stage 2. My best advice. Stop listening to your friends. That's what nasioc is for. Do a search. There is no other maintenance for stage 2 vs 1

You blow rings, gaskets, and seals faster with more boost. So therefor there is more maintenance, also removing the cat will change the ability to control the boost. Finally, doesn't a stage 2 cost about 1400?

Also, i guess i'll go for it, I've been told by many people (not just you guys) to do it. Anyone know where i can get the parts? And not pay an arm and a leg?

Hey guys just an update. After much thought on selling my car. Christmas special lol. Get the "get this out of my driveway by christmas " price of 13,200 with your choice of aftermarket 17" wheels with new all season tires or stock 17" wheels with new Michelin x-ice 2 winter tires.

Stages of "performance" is just a selling point and vary from company to company. There are no standards.

If you really want to go fast get some NOS that's the real ****.

Go to romraider.com and read everything. It's all right there. Whatever you need. And it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Or get pro tuned.
