Good time to have it back on the road.

Good news everybody, this Wednesday is the March meet, and it is supposed to rain.

Ha! Rain, that figures... I was going to try and install my stereo that day, except I still don't know if I'll get my Subie back by then or not. The good news is I have three other Subies I can borrow so I'll probably still be able to drop in for a bit.

I went back to work today after being home sick for a few days. I'll see how I feel when I get out today. If I'm up for it I'll be stopping by, otherwise I look forward to next time!

1. not pointless
2. doesn't guzzle gas, and gets better mileage than fullsize SUVs.

Average 15mpg city/highway. Not bad for 6700lbs, low gearing, all time 4wd, and aero dynamics of your average ranch.

Best mpg that I have ever gotten with a 2007 Tahoe 5.3 is 16mpg highway, on E85 it is around 13mpg. When it is in 4wd, around 10mpg city.
Best mpg that I have ever gotten with a 2004 Denali 6.0 awd is 14mpg highway.

Gas Hummers get around 6mpg on the highway.

So gas hummer vs other gas suv it can't compare, what about other full size diesel suvs?

That would be a '95-96 GM 5.7, since it was only offered for two years. The gas engine sucked in all aspects for the application aside from being more quiet than the diesel.
Here is a page for the '96 models
http://www.lynchhummer.com/Changes/b....specs.700.jpg

*edit*
looks like an average of 11-12mpg city/highway for the gas motor

After a quick search (EPA) a '98 Suburban 2500 with the 6.5TD posted 15mpg.
A 2wd '98 GMC Sierra 2500 2wd; 5.7litre gets 14mpg average.

For fun
1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 (EPA), 4wd; 12mpg average.
In a 2000 Ram short bed, regular cab, 5.9, 2wd; I could only get 13mpg at 70mph. **** was ridiculous.

It is also a little more difficult to compare since this is real world vs. epa estimates since the EPA doesn't release fuel mileage ratings for Hummers, since they are class III vehicles (shuttle buses). Technically not an SUV.

Nick

It was fun, even though not many people showed up.

The weather was perfect and we had the entire lounge area again, with a good waitress.

Very nice. I was wiped out from my first day back to work after being sick so I decided to just stay in. Hopefully I'll feel better today, then if I get my car back and the weather cooperates, I might have time to install my old amp and sub.
