Default New exaust 09 WRX 5-Door

Installing new Exhaust on 09 WRX 5-Door need some input. Any ideas, products, brands, Helpful information wanted!

So far I have looked at the Magnaflow and the Invidia Q300. If anyone has installed a exhaust on a 08/09 WRX please say so I would like to ask some questions.

it depends what kind of sound you wanna produce and how loud you wanna get it. i also have an spt and at first i wanted it louder but then i installed a catted downpipe and now i really like it. its not crazy loud but i love the tone. its deep and grumbly. a lot of people get a really loud catback, love it at first, and then get tickets, drone on the highway, neighbors complain, etc, and then wanna get a quieter catback. let us know how loud you want it and we can give you specific recommendations.

Well I defiantly want to hear a noticeable difference. I want it to be loud enough to be heard but not loud enough for people to complain and to get pulled over for it.

Then that means, as said above, you should get the SPT. I have it on my 08.

you can try listening to some clips on youtube, but only to get an idea of the tone, not the volume. video clips of exhausts are usually much louder than they really are.

You cant go wrong with UR, not too loud but not too quiet either.

The SPT is just wayy to quiet, barely louder than stock.

The invidia sounds amazing although it is really. really loud. (current)

I have ran the three already

hands down, the turboXS is the best one i've heard so far besides the cobb one made for the STI. Theres plenty of videos on youtube of people having installed them on 08 wrx's. It sounds like a bad dog waiting to be let loose. Another plus is it fits snug in there like the stock muffler and to the untrained eye looks completely stock with just a regular 3" rolled tip if im not mistaken. My second option would be the Megan Racing one that looks almost identical to the TurboXS cat back, but the megan has an extra resonator in the midpipe which kinda takes that sweet rumble away. I'm about a month away from purchasing the TurboXS catback for my 09 wrx. Need some warmth to install it. Its been a frigid winter so far.

Here is a link to one of the videos from you tube, there are plenty more of the same setup.

another one:

if you can find an exhaust that sounds better than that (besides the Cobb for sti) please let me know. It does all come down to opinion tho, so there is no true best.

here is the cobb one which i think is the best exhaust I've ever heard on a boxer engine, too bad the one they have for wrx (not sti) does not sound as raspy and is fairly expensive.

I have to disagree with this, unless the SPT on the 08-09 models is drastically different from the 07's. I had the 3" SPT system on my WRX and it was much louder than I had expected. A lot louder than stock. I actually thought it was too loud at first, then heard another WRX with a straight through muffler. It was crazy loud. The SPT ended up being perfect as I got used to it and will be going on my STi here shortly.

The guys at work said they could hear me take off from the stop light that was a mile down the road. I think that is loud enough...

Its much quieter than on the 2g's for whatever reason. I mean it does make for an increase in sound, but nowhere near the levels of the older style

i bought mcganz121's SPT off of him and he told me that adding an aftermarket dp really brought the thing to life. if we ever go to the same meet i'd love to hear your car. personally i don't think the SPT is too quiet, it provides a subtle note without attracting too much unwanted attention.
