Car was tuned @ 30psi with pump fuel on a dynapack dyno, netted (617whp, 804hp on flywheel & 886Nm torque). Made full boost ard 5800rpm(30psi). Power band starts to dip after 7400rpm. Engine was only rev to 7500rpm. Was hoping to extend power band to dip after 7800rpm. Anyone got ideas, advices on tat??? Could'nt contine adding more boost & tuning coz engine coolant was gushing out from the coolant reserve tank during tuning on dyno. Suspect head gasket blown. Car was now up on the hoist, engine out & opened up. Found RHS head gasket blown, engine coolant sipping into cylinder. Luckily all other engine internals are well & intact. Heads was sent to machine shop for resurface. Waiting for them to return from machine shop. My current mod list : EJ25 block with Darton sleeves, 100mm Arias pistons coated(9.5cr), Pauter conrods, Kelford 282In/276Ex high lift cams(Non Avcs), Kelford heavy duty racing springs & retainers, Mildly port & polish head works, Cometic head gasket with gas rings, ARP 11mm head studs, Jdm 12mm oil pump(shimmed), ACL race main/rod bearings, Moroso oil catch/breather tank, Koyo racing radiator, HKS oil cooler, Stock sti crank, Stock intake manifold, Hondata intake manifold gasket, Custom made throttle body(75mm drive by cable), Custom made turbo intake(4 inch), 2 Sard fuel regulator, 2 high flow fuel filters, 2 Walbro intank fuel pump, 4 Stock sti injectors, 4 PE 800cc injectors, Gates racing timing belt, APS tumbler delete with extra injector holder, APS fuel rails & fuel distribution blocks/lines, APS dr725 FMIC, GT4094r(0.95a/r), HKS wastegate, 3.5 inch custom made downpipe & powervalve, Plasma ignition coil packs, NGK racing spark plugs, MoTec M800 ECU with 5bar map sensor, Innovate air/fuel lamda sensor, Apexi Avcr boost controller, Delfi link, delfi X display,Tomei twin scroll exhaust header, Tein HA suspension & coilovers, ATS tripple plate carbon clutch, Stock 06 jdm sti forester 6spd gearbox(longer gearings), Stock front/rear Brembo brakes, Project MU front/rear brake rotors, Project MU front/rear brake pads. Cussco 8pt undercarridge braces, Cussco front/rear sway bars, Cussco trailing arms/ camber kits, Cussco engine/ gearbox mount. Future mod list: Over-sized valves, Full-race exhaust manifold, 1.19a/r turbo exhaust housing, 1200cc RC injectors, Jun adjustable cam gear, 50shot of Nitros(maybe), After-market intake manifold(too expensive ), cosworth head(even more expensive ).![]() ![]() \

Something asmiss abt cam timing?? Car was dyno at 4th gear.Would doing over-sized valves & changing to a 1.19 a/r ex housing help out in the higher rpm zone?
Maybe my tuner never advance too much ignition timimg due to pump fuel? Afraid of detonation? Pics of engine bay coming soon... ![]() |

once you get that full race twinscroll manifold or any other real twinscroll manifold you will see that graph shoot to the left by at least 1000 rpms.

hi hano, i am looking at your dyno charts i can see where your problems are
1) you do not hit 200whp until 4900rpm - this is very late and indicates there is a problem with the design of your exhaust manifold, up pipe and/or turbocharger 2) as soon as you get to full boost (i assume this is at 6200rpm based on your tq curve) the tq starts to drop off FAST. this again indicates you have a problem with your exhaust manifold, up pipe and/or turbocharger 3) changing to the 1.19 a/r will increase your top end a bit, but you will have much more lag 4) i do not recommend changing to larger valves. i recommend using an excellent shape port but with stock size valves and the best valvejob you can find (we use headgames for their radiused valvejobs) |

Did you ever get to drive the car healthy?? That power is rediculous, but was it even fun considering the powerband?

Driving around city isn't much a problem. Just abit laggy if compare with normal stock wrx. I have the 6spd gearbox. Crusing on highway oso beri comfortable, 2200rpm on 6th gear @ 100km/h.

Maybe I'm a bit biased, having a Tomei header myself, but are you sure? I like Full Race and UR product, but Tomei makes damned good headers.

No, i dont think its too bad!
Working on it to try make the spool comes earlier. I seldom drive around city, doesn't need the short burst of power when moving off at traffic lights. Btw, u wouldn't be thinking abt the lag when u rev pass 6K rpm. The tachometer just won't stop til rev limit of 8500rpm. Where got time to mind abt "lag"??![]() |
