I'm actually thinking about parting it out and reverting all to stock as much as I can and selling the car. For some reason I'm losing interest in owning cars that are modified and for racing. I think a comfy leather interior and soft ride will do the trick...we'll see.

Gosh didn't see this coming. Should have just bought an STi and enjoyed it. All that work for nothing.

I've seen this happen to so many people. Sigh.

Hope you don't lose the interest in cool cars though BenBen.

Maybe it's just a phase I'm going through since I'm paying for a car that has sat on jack stands since I've bought it. When winter is over I'll probably be all excited to finally get it out and drive it! If I find the right STi I'll jump at it though and whoever buys this car from me will definitely have a nice reliable car! Seems when I finally finish cars and make them the way I want I sell them, haha. Or maybe it's Stizmm's ice cream quote coming into play!

What all do you have left to do with it? Just hook up the vacuum lines and get it tuned?

vacuum lines, starter bolts, radiator hoses, fmic hoses, headlights, could use a new bumper, skid plate, fender liners, figure out the boost control (UTEC), fill with oil and coolant, siphon year old gas, prime fuel lines, install wideband controller and gauge for tuning, and then take it to P&L on a trailer and hope it starts when it get's there!

Oh, and get a badly needed alignment and new rims and tires so I don't wreck the new blizzaks.

try every flavor of ice cream! However you have to actually try it, not just buy it so it can sit in the garage.

Buy a running stock but nice and fast car. you'll enjoy it more. Sure its a little slower, but a running car is always faster than a non running car.

Well, I've been lurking around the numerous Suby forums... Figured I'd pop in here and introduce myself seeing as there looks to be a good number of local guys here... Anyway...

Name: Ben
Occupation: IT Quality Assurance
Location: Plainfield, WI
My Ride: 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon w/ 61,000 miles. AFAIK everything is stock aside from the exhaust, which is a 3" SPT. I've had the car a little over a month and it's been awesome so far. I just changed the plugs, was quite a job compared to changing them on my old '03 Protege5. Anyway, thought I'd say hi and read through the Central Wisconsin thread.

Welcome! It's funny how many people I've talked to owned a Protege before their Subaru, haha

Must be a gateway car, lol...

I love wagons for some reason, so the WRX was really the next logical step for me, as I wanted AWD. Sure I could have gone with a MazdaSpeed3, but I was sick of FWD.

Default Newb In Central WI

For those of you who didnt see this thread.....

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2026146

My name is Todd and I live in the Weston/Schofield/Wausau Area. As my link states, we just picked up a 06 WRB TR. Car is mostly stock with the exception of painted wheels, repainted calipers, and a drop. I am going to try to get pics up later tonight. I look forward to meeting up with some of you guys! I was shocked to see a CenWI thread!

On a side note....if anyone somewhere in the area has an exhaust they would like to get rid of, LMK. I will purchase it this weekend....depending on price/brand of course.

Thanks!

Yeah, like I said, I was shocked to see a Central WI thread. This isnt my first Subaru...I had an 05 STi before...I had to trade it for my truck though. Needed more room for my little guy. Theres a few of us here in Wausau....mostly kids who just welded a muffler on thier cars and called it a day. A friend of mine here in town has a 05 Stg 2 STi that is absolutley beautiful though.

Thanks for the welcome!

Also, if anyone is pretty close to Wausau, we usaully get a pretty big group of guys together and hang out in random parking lots and BS on Fridays and Saturdays. LMK if anyone would want to chill! Sad part is, cops are cracking down on racing here, so not much of that goes on anymore.

Awesome... Always been a fan of the Trailblazer SS as well. Way too much vehicle for just me driving to and from work, the WRX is almost pushing it, lol... I'm not planning on doing any major mod work on mine. For a daily driver, it's plenty fast. The one mod that is on the car, a 3" SPT exhaust sound damn good, so I'm set for now.

I had a SPT on my STi up until when I sold it. I LOVED it and I wish I wouldnt have sold my CB. IIRC, I let it go for like $250 to a semi local guy with a red WRX, and I gave him my HKS DP for like $20. OOps lol.

It is nice to see some posting going on in here. I posted without looking through and seeing that it kind of died off.. Hoping someone can help me out with something. I need someone local(ish) that knows suspension/drive line... Just noticed a strange sound when braking... Describing it is kind of pointless, but it's a rubbery squeak/squish sound, it's a low squeak-a-squak-a-squeak-a-squak-a... It's a rhythmic sound that gets louder as the car slows and comes to a stop. I can do a lot of engine work, but suspension and drive line stuff is foreign to me. Bushings? Brake pads? Strut mounts? Something else? I don't know... I don't want to take it back down to Don Miller to pay them to just look at it.
