Something kinda sweet for you wausau guys that I found out today and you may have already know. On Grand Avenue, kiddie corner from Midas there is the small auto shop called Advanced Auto Repair. Well I was looking for a place to get my oil changed quick cuz I don't have a any of the tools I need were I live and am headed to Indiana this weekend and am do for an oil change. I pulled in just to see what they offered and found out that the guy who runs the shop is a certified subaru tech and used to work at the subi dealership and then started his own shop. So I am sure if you guys ever would need work done that you didn't want to do your selves just a heads up. Its a small shop but he seemed like a pretty honest guy. My oil change for mobile 1 sythetic was just under $50 which isn't to far off what it cost for me to do myself after buying oil and filters for regular prices not during sales. So I was pleased and just a heads up I guess.

Good info man. Thanks. Kasten's here in town takes good care of me, and I am sure they would do the same for others too. The parts manager, Jeff, is a really cool guy.

Anybody in the Wausau area ever do business with Car Connection Central on Grand Ave?
They have a clean Baja and Legacy on their lot that I want to check out.

dude...dont do it. They are shady as hell and have been shut down several times over the last few years for "ill minded" practices.

My WRX came from them. We bought it knowing it smoked a little bit when first started, but we figured it was just the TD04 ****ting the bed as they told me Kasten's had checked the car over and said ti was in great shape. He promised me paperwork from them, which I never got. I tried to work with them and their BS warranty company to get a new motor, but got nowhere. I tried to be nice, but it didnt work. I filed a BBB claim, and they lied their way out of it. I would be more than happy to forward the emails to you if I can still access them. Kasten and SOA finally stepped up and paid for the shortblock and the labor. I am no longer allowed on Car Connection's lot, or to have any contact with them or their employees.

And then there was my friend. He was super excited to find an older(i forget the year) AWD BMW on their lot. He snapped it up, and didnt look it over the greatest before he paid and took it home. When he got it home, he realized that the rear was cambered so bad that there was wire showing in the tires. This car should not have been sold with the tire in this shape, and is in direct violation of WI law according to the DMV complaint center. He took the car back within 2 hours of buying it, and they told him that its not their problem.....he should have looked it over better.

My question is this. what kind of half assed safeties and pre sale inspections are they doing there? I would never tell anyone, even my worst enemy to buy a car from there. Its just not a good idea. I could go for days on stuff I found out about them. Rolling odometers, flood damaged cars, washed titles, etc.

c/n:

Dont do it man. Autotrader is your friend. Learn from my friend and I's childish mistake.

Yeah man....I think I spent more time in the deep **** on the back corners than I did on the track lol. Theres a first time for everything though, and last night was my first time on the ice. I was starting to get it figured out by my 5th run lol, and then the track got plowed and it threw me way off again. Oh well. Hopefully I get this phantom KR issue with my car figured out so I can justify spending money on snow tires. I would go studded, but I bought my car with those damn springs in it, so I can't lift it back up for the winter, and I am afraid the studs will tear up more than my inner fender.

Do you guys do regular autocross events in the summertime too, or is it just the winter stuff?

Snow tires help a lot. I'd like to ride with Scrad and see what's up with that traction control. Why in the hell would you need traction control on an AWD car? Subaru should know better.

The traction control sucked. When I tried to take off from the line it would limit the throttle a lot. Once it got going the traction control works good when the car is going straight. But once you get the car sideways enough it will not give you any throttle input at all. My car almost parked it self on the left handed sweeper turn.

Good thing I can turn it off.

I think I might be able to come out early and help setup or something. What time are you guys going to be there.

Well isn't it about time I start paying attention to the forums...lots of talk about me! Looks like this summer should be quite the showdown. I'm looking foward to meeting some of the owners of these (tinted) suby's in town

Here is a pic form a few years ago (taken by yours truly)

And another with stockers
