My gf asked me to make an origami valentine's rose and I'm already having a god damn hard ass time making it.

If all else fails, jewellry, or some semi brand name handbag works.
or make a photo album of your yearly anniversaries or something like that.

As a girl I agree...I love jewelery and purse ideas. I don't know about your girlfriends...but I'm not fussy when it comes to purses. You can get great buys at Marshalls or TJ Maxx on regular and lower priced designer like Dooney Bourke. One of my favorite brands is XOXO and TJ Maxx usually has them nicely priced.

Some other ideas....gift certificates to her favorite hair/nail salon.

As for flowers....I love http://proflowers.com They last soooooo long. and they're reasonably priced starting for around $24.99. They last longer than flowershop and supermarket flowers. My mom got some as a gift after surgery and we've been ordering them ever since...They pick them before the flowers bloom so you get buds...give it a day or two and the flowers fully bloom.

A nice dinner out is nice too.

cooking her dinner, or cooking together with her is always good

i'm not one for the fancy jewellery and bags/purses.....in all honesty, i'll probably wear it a handful of times

on the otherhand, if you buy me some fancy schmancy foodie products, i'll be happy too
or some cheesy picture of us is cute too
flowers are also a very nice gesture

What does being Canadian have to do with it? You don't have those stores there? If that's the case I'm sure you have similar ones.

I got my last girlfriend (aka, old hatchet face), a bag of potato chips, some lawn darts and a chia pet.

Geez, wonder why I'm still single.

how long have you been together?

Get an engraved bracelet, ring, earring, necklace ?
Buy her some lingerie from Victoria Secret (its a win win scenario)

Make her something, be creative. Bake a cake? Cook dinner?

Oh btw, I haven't even gotten my gf anything yet
We're just planning to go down to Seattle for the day and spend a Belated Valentine's in the states and pick up a gift for her down there.
