The plate league was a great time. Double-elimination scoring, two shooters at a time. There were six steel knockdown plates and you could bring as many magazines as you had, filled with six rounds each, to the bench with you to help you knock down those six plates.

Cost: $10 for league plus range fee. I think it cost me ~$22 bucks plus ammo.

IDPA sounds fun. One day I'll make it out.

Sounds fun. I think I've seen you at champion a few more times since the last time.

BTW, for whoever asked about 10/22s being accurate... I've got a standard 10/22 with a 3-9x scope on it that can hit quarters at 50 yards.

10/22s can be ridiculously accurate. I've got a buddy that hunts ground squirrels out past 100yds with one.

ya a 10/22 can be accurate with a bull barrel, trigger work, and bolt work. i bought 3 different ones, put a 3-9X40 tasco scope and best i could muster at 100 yards was 3inch groups. same scope between the rifle's.

sold them all and put that same scope on my Marlin M60 and i can get 5 shot groups at 50 yards are .25-.32 of an inch, 100 yards its .45-.75 at a outdoor range. mods to the M60 are a DIY fluff and buff of the tripper and over stop screw.

im not bashing ruger, they make a great product, ive just had bad luck with three of their same rifle.

Smaller rounds can be crazy accurate, especially when you start getting up to those nutty varmintkong rounds that move at 6000+fps.

I just built a new AR-15 and wanted to zero it sometime soon at a range. I'm not new to shooting rifles, but this is my first personally owned firearm. So I'm a little unclear on the "handling etiquette" of moving a rifle from home to range by vehicle.

From reading the RCWs and common sense, the rifle should be in a case and the ammunition/loaded magazines should be separated from the rifle (action clear). All items shouldn't be accessible and therefore should be stored in the trunk of a vehicle.

Now when I get to the range am I allowed to take my rifle out of the car or do I have to check in or do something else before?

Anything else I'm missing?

As long as the rifle is in the case. Wade for example require you to take the rifle case to the shooting booth (samething with gun pouch/case or holster) to get it out, not at the bench. I got yelled at once for getting it out of the case at the bench.

Cool dude, what did you build? I'm going to pick up another one soon enough and have been thinking about building a Noveske or snatching up a Colt6920 deal.

I built a 16" BBL Mid-length.

Noveske N4 Upper (1x7 CL) with DD Omega 9.0 FF. CMT/Youngs Mfg Hybrid M16 BCG. Charles Daly Lower w/ Standard LPK. LMT Rear Iron Sight (Basically a chopped carrying handle w/ 6/3 elevation adjustment).

It was fun building this. It isn't as complex as when I did my swap, minus some additional tools I had to find. Highly recommended for anyone if they want to start shooting and to learn how everything operates. You can collect parts on the way and not have to pay what ever the $200 tax for complete rifles.

It's been cleaned and oiled and just headspaced. Just want to use the damn thing.

Probably going to Ft. Lewis' Range 15 sometime within the week, as they seem to have the only outdoor range that can go as far as 100-300 yards in WA that isn't membership based.

DD M4, Very nice!
http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin...&key=M4CARBINE

All the lowers I have I installed DD Rear Receiver QD Swivel Attachment Point, great product. The sling mount at the position allowed quick switch from right to left shoulder and no tangling mess.

Noveske is nice, you'll be very happy. I have a custom built with mostly Noveske parts. Lower with N4 Receiver, Upper with Noveske Cold Hammer Forged Light Barrel and Switchblock. Upper receivers I use Larue Tactical 9" Rail and Steath upper receiver. Finished it off with Magpul grip and a LMT SOPMOD stock, troy industry folding front and rear sight. Turns out really nice and light. One of my favorite, it's the one on top.

I would trade you the Noveske + cash for RS. Throw in the aimpoint too.
