Default Wisdom Teeth

share your experiences!
the befores, durings and afters.

i'm getting all 4 of mine yanked out on thursday

my two bottom ones are growing sideways.
my two top ones are growing, but not sideways.

i got the whole disclaimer about how I might lose feeling in my jaw, lips, tongue etc. if they damage the nerve canal or something

I'm doing the whole IV sedation biznitch.
i've NEVER had an IV done....pretty scared of needles.
i've never been sedated....don't know how that feels.
annnnnd yeah.....pretty freaked out about the whole thing.....

I had mine done 2 years ago.

I didn't get much reaction to it. It's so quick and only a little discomfort. Don't worry about it.

I had all 4 yanked out at the same time.

I woke up 3/4 into the operation, that was kind of messed up

You feel like absolute horse crap after because your face will be all swollen, and you won't be able to eat for weeks.

I think I lost 10 lbs or so when I had my teeth pulled out. All I ate was congee.

don't be scured, i recently had mine done with freezing, hardly felt a thing. one did hurt because i had an infection in it.

just hope they come out in one piece and you got nothing to worry about.
be very careful afterwards of getting dry socket, dont suck on anything and rinse often with salt water, no smoking, no straws ect.

good luck

i ate and smoked the same day i had them pulled, and had very little swelling if any

my experience wasn't bad at all.

I had to remove all 4 as well, bottom were a lil crooked, the tops were straight.
They gave me 4 needles, sat me down and put some sort of clamp on my tooth told me on the count of 3 to turn my head left, while I turned left the dentist cranked the tool RIGHT, I heard a crack and next thing i knew my tooth was in the metal pan the assistant was holding. repeat 3X and I was done.

in and out of the office in 20-25 min.

the numbness of the needles bother me more than anything else.

a friend of mine got knocked out with the IV, the dentist plugged him in and said "oh shoot i forgot something in the other room" next thing he knew he was waking up and the doctor walks back in the room and says "oh you're all done!"

haha i thought that was pretty cool.

I asked to get knocked out. 1 needle in the arm > 4 in the mouth.

Hahaha that is great, a dentist with a sense of humour.

I've had 4 removed while awake which was fun and then my 4 wisdom while asleep from IV which was a piece of cake. I woke up feeling like a million bucks thanks to the drugs. Be prepared to be called a chimpmunk.

I got my 4 wisdom teeth out last month...took 4 days to recovery.

1. I got 8 shots from dentise, 2 shots on each tooth...so no pain...
2. It took 40 mins to took out all 4 teeth while I was watching DVD...
3. You can't talk and eat for the first day...congee or yogut is ok for me...
4. It would stop bleeding 2 hours after the operation (So I got home, I only took one T3 pill, make me sleepy, and took a 2 hours nap, then it stopped bleeding)
5. You jaw and tongue will be nack with feeling and just sour pain...
6. Make sure you use salt water in mouth...
7. Sleep again...
8. 2 days later you can talk, on 3rd day you can eat some easy food...and pain free...

I sware I was scared about the operation like you but, I did it...and it was not so terrible as I imagined and heard from my GF and co-workers...

i think i'd be most scared about waking up part way through the operation.

pain, i can tolerate with some drugs and some whining.
i'm doing it thursday first thing in the morning and I don't have school until the following wednesday, so i'm hoping that i'll be somewhat recovered by then!!

what kind of post-op foods do you guys recommend?
besides the usual icecream, pudding, yogourt
i'm wanting to eat more than just carbs, but the only protein stuff I can think of is maybe scrambled eggs, protein shakes and maybe tofu

Mine was a breeze, very little pain except when laughing for the first few days. Really, no issues. If they are not badly impacted you should be fine.

I got it done in November, make sure you ice the sides of your jaw for a couple days. It is a hassle but it will help keep the swelling down.

They had to use tampons to absorb all the blood that was coming out of my mouth.

And make sure you don't spit for a week otherwise you'll ruin the stitches in your mouth.

It was pretty bad. I felt drowsy as schnell for the rest of the day and everything I ate just got stuffed into the holes where the teeth were and I had to flush it out with this plastic syringe. It would bleed like every time I ate something for the next week or so. Finally the wound healed up..

but for that week or so, it was crap.
