Default Confidence in going stg 2/questions

Right now I am deciding if I want to go stg 2 or not. I would be doing it with a XPT map. A local and I would do it. He has flashed other cars before. But in a way I am kind of scared to do this. I mean I dont want to hurt my trans. My car is a 04 with 53K on it and I also have a sti up pipe. So what do you guys think. I have heard many people love it. But like I said I dont want to bust my trans, nor do I have the cash to replace it. I dont auto x, drag race nor do I feel the need to prove my car to anyone. I have spoken to some transmission vender and he said that it is only a matter of time. So should I do it or no. Honestly I would love to get a stg 1 tune to just smooth out the power band, but that by its self isnt any cheaper wether its AP or Dyno tune-no XPT for 04 So yea or nay? Opinions plese

Do it... You will not kill your tranny going stage II, unless you abuse your transmission. I know for a fact that you will love the power gain of stage II. Do you have an aftermarket TBE???

Stage 2 is a pretty fun upgrade. Your trans will be fine as long as you don't drive the crap out of it like I did with my car(broke second gear at stage two).

Exactly what I am scared to death of. Sometimes that shift from 1-2 feels sooo notchie. I do have a sti grp n rear shifter busing that I have not isntalled yet, would that help that shift, the rest feel fine? The grp n mount is new to subaru, dealers have only had them about 2 weeks. I tried installing the KB and that was a PITA

Now for my car, to datalog it I have heard that I am supposed to do a 3rd gear pull up to redline(an not go to jail), is that true?

Right now I have a rsr ex mag gt 2 cbe, sti up pipe. I plan on getting a Megan Racing bellmouth Dp. My car will be wicked loud
This is what ir will sound like, minus the tial bov. Look a the db ratings

^^^^In that vid where he takes off from :31sec to :41 sec, is that considered harsh driving, espically the 1-2 shift?
At 1:33 when he drives away, it sounds soooo sick/evil though

I dont think I will get a ticket, but I will keep some aleve in the car

The trans will only break if you don't know how to drive... Plenty of cars here w/ 100k+ miles on them on a stage 2 tune, even on the original clutch.

Whatever transmission vendor told you it's a matter of time is the exact vendor you want to avoid in the future. Unless you drive like an idiot or you have a fluke, you will not break your tranny at stock or Stage 2 levels. No way. If you want shifting help, read the Shifting FAQ. If you want to know if Stage 2 is fine. Yes. If you want more info on that particular Stage map, post in the right forum. If you want more tranny info, post in the right forum.

i run "stage 2" with a stock trans and i beat the hell out of my car, and have done so for about 15,000 miles. still no issues. differnce is that i expect issues, its my way of giving myself an excuse for a better gearset but IMO youll be fine, the occasional hard driving shouldnt hurt it too much as long as youre shifting properly and letting your clutch take the shock of any nasty driving rather than your trans.

Slip the clutch out, dont drop it in between shifts

clutches are cheaper then transmissions
