Maybe the Moab Jeep gathering, same one that saw the factory customs like that FC concept? (I know, not in CO, but close.)

Thanks, seems that's likely what it was. I saw them all on 80W so that's most likely it. Was hoping if it was more local I could attend whatever event it was today.

a) do you want lockers? b) do you want a dana 44 front? c) do you plan on yanking out the axles anyway and doing some tough as **** axles? d) do you really care about what gears it comes with? e) do you like cheese? i half way wish i would have gotten a sport or x model or something so i could go with some air lockers and get a prorock 44 for the front, but then again having the rubicon with all its goodies out of the box is pretty nice. its all what you plan on doing with it though. i initially though my wrangler was going to be just a little trail riding rig, but that has completely changed. |

a) might be good on teh beach, where this would see its offroad use the most
b) indifferent c) no d) yes, 4400lbs and 3.21's are barely adequate. Having a little help would be nice, around town. Offroad, it helps too but this isn't going to be used that way 95% of the time e) I've been pretty clear that I don't have any pretense of this being a trail rig. It will be a daily driver but I want capability when I do use it for how it was intended. This has me teetering on the cost/benefit of a loaded Wrangler vs. a mid-tier GC. It will do everything I want to do offroad yet will be more capable on-road. Still, I've always liked the look of the Wrangler better. Apples and oranges, yes. |

If you can consider not getting a Wrangler, you probably shouldn't get one, IMO. Have you test driven one for any length of time to experience wind noise, etc.?

yes, spent some time at 60mph in a hardtop yesterday. It wasn't quiet. I had an '02 TJ and an '01 XJ; I know what I'm looking at.

Ah, got it. I was assuming you were coming straight from that E Class with nothing else to compare it to.

then again, i dunno if i would be wanting to regear a jeep right off the dealer lot with a warranty now that i think about it. and to be honest, i dont really think you need to worry so much about having lockers on the beach, unless you think you will be getting into some srsly nasty quicksand or something. |

Spent some more quality time under the Jeep yesterday... my wife is ready to cut my throat but the Jeep is coming along nicely.
Got Locker wired up and tested. Need to find final home in dash for switch and tidy up interior wiring, esp the switched power which is totally ghetto rigged for now. I also may try to find a way to disable the locker switch for peace of mind when others are driving it. Gonna use an add-a-fuse for the switched power I guess.... Re-centered both axles, appear to be much much closer now. Worked out a pretty good technique for the rear too. Got the rear pinion angle up a bit too, much smoother on test drive. Can come up a little further but it's fine for now. Did it all with the uppers so the axle is probably one inch further back total now Exhaust is still ever so gently sometimes touching the engine skid. We will have to see what happens once the muffler is out back providing some counter weight to the header (it was fine before we pulled the whole rear of the exhaust off, once we did the header doesn't have much holding it up). Flexed it out as much as I could without bump stops yesterday, it flexes awesome. |

That pink is awesome
The lighter blue is almost the color my Wrangler was. I think it was called Spinnaker Blue or something. Very manly. Looked sort of like a lighter, VERY sparkly, version of the Arctic blue ones I've seen around. This looks close: |

I need some advice with my 05 WK. The transmission goes into limp mode and won't shift out of third gear unless. However, if I turn the car off and restart it all is fine. It doesn't happen all the time. The CEL comes and goes. It is throwing a "Input Speed Sensor No Signal" code. I took it to the dealership on Monday. They told me it is also storing a PCM malfunction code and that the PCM needs to be replaced and reprogrammed. They quoted me $825. He said once he gets that replaced he can see if there is anything else wrong with the tranny.
Anyone have any advise? If it weren't for the need to reprogram the PCM, I would do it myself. The car is 7 years old and I will be looking to replace soon. I don't want to dump a ton of money into it. |

I have always had to mod out the exhausts on every Jeep I have ever owned. I usually take out the torch and heat and bend the braket that attaches to the transmission, for some reason jeep just builds them low. Brackets done... one seat in. Wait till you see what I am doing with my spare... <joy> |

They do, I assume, have soft mounts at the trans to help isolate some of the heat transfer from the cat, I guess... maybe... lol |
