No sense? A Wrangler with an extra row of seats and a bunch more space in the boot makes no sense?

Like I said, they're every other car on the road out here. If I see 10 JKs, 9 of them will be Unlimiteds. The two door models are a bit of a unicorn, actually.

The 2 doors have a much shorter wheelbase that helps a lot offroad. It's understandable that the JK unlimiteds are more practical because of the extra space and utility, but I think the reason many people don't like them is they took a vehicle that was basically designed to go anywhere and decreased that ability with approach/departure angles, gained weight, etc in favor of interior space.

Exactly. A Jeep was designed to be a small lightweight offroad vehicle. Not that monstrosity. If I wanted a big SUV I would buy a Suburban.

I get that, but you're overstating that a bit too. The difference isn't that great. A four door doesn't give much up to the two door, and only the most hardcore offroaders would find themselves in a situation where they'd realize an advantage from the two door.

The difference in offroad ability really varies with the terrain. The smaller jeeps will do much better on tighter trails with boulders and in hilly areas, but there are situations where the longer wheelbase on the unlimiteds actually helps.

This. I prefer a longer wheelbase for wheeling. Always have.

I was looking at Wranglers this weekend. A random local dealer had 26 Unlimiteds on the lot and 2 two doors.

searching used Wranglers, looking at spending no more than 10K. is it normal for wranglers in that price range to have no less than 80-90k miles? ffs there's a bone stock 1999 with 95k miles for $11K

Having had both a 2dr and 4dr, the 4dr was much easier to wheel and live with. The only thing that ever got me on the 4dr was the breakover angle. It's much better at climbing and descending Hills, IMHO. Turning radius sucks in comparison though.

I do love my 2dr jk but the practicality of the 4dr is hard to beat

I think the sticker on it says Hitch-It. It just slides into the 2" receiver on the truck and is pretty handy. It's really nice for quick little day trips when the enclosed trailer is just too much.

From a couple weeks ago. It will be interesting to see how the trails were affected by last years floods. I hadn't been up in the area since that all happened, and its pretty amazing to see how much the area has changed.

Where were you?

Last October we had to exit Park something(202.A I think) & t33 plane crash via an exit north of pleasant valley campground and the wash on the way out was brutal. One jeep with temp tags tipped.

I'm curious to see how Camp Dick and all the trails around there fared since that's usually where my friends and I go wheeling and camp.

Those pics are on Ironclads. Was t33 still accessible? I've been meaning to check that one off the list for a few years, but have never gotten around to it. Bunce/Ironclads didn't seem to be affected too much, but down hwy7 where the st.vrain river runs down the canyon was completely washed out. Crazy.

Ditto. I haven't heard any good news about middle st.vrain and coney flats... Fingers crossed, I love that area.
