anybody doing the hemi swap as a kit vs. having to take it to a shop? I.e., someone selling "turn key" package with everything you need?

AEV sells a kit... sans engine. You source your engine, 5.7 or 6.1, and the kit comes with (effectively) everything you need to convert it over.

AEV definately does, but its very pricy.

AFAIK you can go to painless for the wiring harness, and just buy the conversion motor mounts, etc.

You would be better off with a turbo kit in my opinion.

Power on the street when you need it, and use your gearing offroad.

not saying i wouldnt want one still. i want so badly to do a hemi swap, but thats much, MUCH farther down the road.
even in 4 low you're saying you won't notice a difference in power through the rpms? hmm that's disappointing if so.

.......so I'm thinking about building myself a Brute. There's a strong chance I'll be making the move out here to CA, and I'll be needing a vehicle. I should be able to find a lightly modded TJ for around 6 or 7, then another 8 for the kit.

I'm not crazy about the limited cab space, but I need something I can load my bike and gear into. Operational costs will be cheaper than a Defender, and it still has the coolness factor. I'l probably end up doing an LSx swap and selling it to fund a Diesel 110 build down the road.

Thinking about doing something mild, like this. 2" lift and 33's.

So this is my Trooper (love it BTW):

It needs new tires, and I'd like to get some bigger ones.
It's all stock right now, but I'm planning on a slight lift eventually (OME 1.25" + a torsion bar "crank", so ~2.25" total).
I'd really like to eventually do some trails with it, but it's mostly used as a DD around town; I'm in MI so it sees snow frequently.
What size tires would you guys recommend for a nice, beefy look that will handle most off-road situations, but that will be comfortable on the road and won't be too heavy/MPG-killing?
Also, any specific tire recommendations?

Looks-wise, this is perfect, but I'm not sure what size these are.

Also, any recommendations on some nice but cheap off-road wheels, similar to the ones above?

Thanks!

or bigger wheels?

there are also a couple of other companies out there doing hemi swaps for jeep. just from what ive read online aev is overpriced. if i get to do mine i eventually wanna go with these guys...

http://burnsvilleoffroad.com/

id love to do it myself, but to be honest something of that magnitude i would just rather pay someone that has been doing it for a while and know what they are doing.

anyways, i THINK burnsville offroad is a sister company to nemisis industries. they make really REALLY nice armor, all be it very expensive.

If you haven't been over to vote yet, please do so!!!

https://apps.facebook.com/jeepmoment.../927589/null/4

Just click the orange "LOVE IT" button!!!

The contest ends tomorrow night and I am really close to winning a 2012 JK Wrangler.

If you don't want to fill in your personal information, apparently you just have to "like" jeep before you go to vote.

Absolutely stunning. I love how it looks like it rolled out of the factory that way (or should have anyways)

I read online that Jeep was actually planning on re-introducing a Wrangler pickup.

The roof needs to be black or something. I can't put my finger on it, but the top looks....unfinished or something.
