Default Quick look at a Stage 2 GTR w Accessport..

While not a subie, I thought some of you might find this interesting. Tim tuned a 'Stage 2' GTR today (Stock Car + Exhaust) with the Cobb Accessport.

Stock GTRs are about 430whp , this car with the exhaust and stock tune was about 450whp, and with the exhaust and tune was 510whp and 528 lb-ft of torque.

Fuel is Oregon Pump 92 Octane. Peak boost is 15.5 psi.

Not bad for driving around town in.

Yea, that is some good torque. Consider how it compares to my EZ30R WRX running on E85 not pump fuel, and with a 35R.

The GTR crosses 400lb-ft at 2600 rpm, while it takes until the EZ30R 3800 rpm.
GTR - 500 lb-ft at 3200 lb-ft compared to EZ30R - 500 lb-ft at 4400 rpm.

A 35R 2.5L pushed with race fuel or pump+meth would have 400 lb-ft at perhaps 4600-4700, and 500 lb-ft at 5000-5100.

Yea, the GTR is pretty darn cool.

Jeff

Do you know what IHI turbo's they are using stock in the GTR? NAGTROC says they are twin RHF55's which I think are VF43's? I'm not sure what to believe because they say its the same turbo on 06 STI's but it also says they are ball bearing which I know the VF43's are not, so I'm not sure whats up.

Phew. Is the basic concept similar to the late model Porsche Turbos (i.e., use 2 very small turbos to increase spool), and will it hold good boost to redline, or is the tail-off unavoidable? Also, do you know if Nissan uses forged slugs in these motors?

Good work guys, and I bet it must be fun to start from scratch with such a well designed and built package. Kudos to Nissan - now all they have to do beef up the tranny a little, dial out the understeer (it's bad, I drove one), and it goes from world class to world beater.

How much the GTR weights?, people tend to forget one of the most important aspecs of racing Power/Weight ratio. By the way I don't think that tranny/clutch setup of the GTR is going to hold a lot of HP/TQ.
