I imagine that this feat will be quite hard to accomplish and quite expensive.
The dealer programs and reprograms any FOBs that have the immobilizer. |

Programming of the remote can be done, i believe they use the same frequency set.
Adding an immobilizer is nearly impossible, your ECU wont support it. Trunk pop is impossible, the factory keyless module can't support it, PLUS you'd have to add an actuator to put on the trunk release cable |

it can be done. it will be done.
im gonna get a viper alarm that has remote start and alarm with trunk popping option. the alarm will work with the factory remote. how do i program the new remote? it has to be different than the 02 remote. its not the tear drop remote either its built into the key. Quote:

If there IS NO OUTPUT from the factory keyless module for a trunk release, then there IS NO WAY to use the factory style keyfob for trunk release. and you STILL need an actuator to run inline on the trunk release wire. If you think I'm wrong, try it, but I'm a professional and I've been doing this for a while. Your theory is great, but it isn't grounded, and you have no way of execution, and you dont have a clear understanding of how a keyless entry system works in a vehicle. |

There is an extra set of contacts on the fob to trigger the trunk release. There is also an unmarked output on the alarm module to pop the trunk. You can buy an actuator from DEI or wherever and wire it into the cable. I've seen it done before.

What if I just want the switchblade key and the lock and unlock function to work, are the key profiles the same on the new leggy keys? Where do I buy the new key/fob that will work in the flip keys?

this isn't the for sale forum, you don't need to bump things. If someone has an answer, then they will find the thread and answer.
Consult your owner's manual or a subaru technician if nobody here has a clear answer for you. |

I'm using the 09 legacy key fob in my bugeye. Just follow the regular programming instructions and it works fine. All buttons work for me except the trunk but I have a wagon anyway.
Use these instructions to program it: Unlock all doors, foot on brake, all doors closed. Cycle key quickly but carefully on-off appr 10 times until the car honks one time. Do not turn the key far enough to start the car, just to the 'on' position so the dashboard lights up. When the horn honks, open and close the driver's door, press any remote button and that's it. Program another remote? Quickly open and close the driver's door again and push a button on the 2nd remote. That's it. When you're done, remove the key and the horn should honk 3 times. You're all set. Sometime it takes more than 10 on-offs to set program mode. Open/close the door, lock/unlock etc, wait 10 minutes, then try again. |
