Question Omori gauge special: good deal?

Omori has a "monthly special" section, with a number of buys in Subbie color combos. I'm seriously considering the 45mm kit for $374, though I'm not too sure how I feel about a mechanical boost gauge.

http://www.omorimeter.com/this_month_special.htm

Anyone care to compare these prices to those that they may have paid? I have no interest in buying from Omori NA, they've left a bad taste in my mouth.

Paul

I have these gauges and they work great. I also have the mechanical boost gauge and it works fine. Make sure if you get the boost gauge to use the Y or T fitting supplied. It will not work right without it... OH, I paid more than that too. Lucky...

There should be no problem with the mechanical boost gauge. I have the same one. These are good prices compared to Omori NA. I would get them. They work great and look awesome at night.

The price of the gauges actually comes out to be a little more, assuming you'll be using the stock gauage pod in your WRX.

I ordered the 45mm set of mech boost, elec. oil temp, and EGT.
Then you add the DIN angled face plate to fit the stock gauge pod. With shipping to the US it comes out to $430. Then you add the cost of a wire transfer to Malaysia, $35 from my credit union. Total is $465. Then you'll need the stock pod, $60 from www.subaruwrxparts.com.

So the total comes to $525, which includes the stock pod. Still much less than what Omori NA charges. Great customer service too. My gauges shipped from Japan this Monday, so I should see them by the end of the week.

Just thought you'd like to know...

I'm actually planning to put my gauges in the dash below my single din stereo. I ordered the HKS silver mounting plate a few days ago, so I won't need the Subbie pod.

Yeah I knew the bank fees were steep, too bad they can't figure something else out. Omori NA could learn *alot* from these guys.

I bought a set of 52mm gauges from omorimeter.com. (Mech boost, elec. EGT, elec. Oil Pressure) Price was very good at $420 shipped.

I would suggest that you get a different "T" piece than the one that comes with the package. Ask to add part number P-94 to your order. The T piece that comes with the boost gauge is 1/8" all around. But you'll need 1/8" - 1/4" - 1/4". Plus part P-94 is brass, very shiny brass; better than plastic.

My purchase took a little over 1 month. So gotta be patient.

good luck

Snowphun:
Is there a picture online of this HKS mounting plate you ordered? Sounds very interesting....does it fit 45mm gauges only?

I emailed Omori recently about getting 52mm "WRX" gauges and total for mechanical boost, electrical EGT and oil pressure came out to ~$390, minus shipping or bank fees. Oil temp instead of pressure was ~$40 less.

Mike's been really quick on answering emails, and im pretty set on ordering next week.

Default worth it?

If you want gauges that match the interior gauge's of your Subaru then it is worth it. They are quality gauges. Dave

There are no pics on their website, though it is the piece used in the HKS/Sparco WRX that was in SCC and a few other mags. I should have it this week, I'll let you know what it looks like.
