Thanks for the bump Ted! Glad to see you went old school. Hope to catch at MSRC next weekend! Oh and we need a review on the new CF Nexx helmets on the forum.

Am I getting any better? I turned a 2:09 on the 600!

That is Eagles Canyon Raceway, it is NE of Decatur.
http://www.eaglescanyon.com/2008/schedule.php

You can look on their calender and see what track days you can get in on.
ECR Open day, you call Maggie at the track and sign up.

For a Track day Coordinator you can go to http://www.lstd.com/html/index2.html or http://www.ridesmart.info/

Both do the same thing just a little differently.
You need a leather suit, GP boots and some GP gloves and a good Snell or ECE helmet. I know sounds expensive but not really. SportbikeTrackGear has sales on suit or check out MotoLiberty in Dallas!

Not sure where you are located but feel free to PM me and we can talk over the phone. Always willing to help someone wanting to get on the track. Next one is May 12th at Cresson Motorsports Ranch with LSTD.

Right on. I picked up, unfortunately, a ninja 250 (rebuilding it to be exact) to start riding again. Just getting a feel for track day info. Some day soon though I hope.

Oh and I'm south FW currently.

OK I'm north FW. 250 is a good bike. I want one to race endurance on.

The cost to ride at the track is anywhere from 75$ to 160$ depending on the time of year/track/coordinator.

Feel free to PM me any questions. We even have a local club that meets once a month in Fort Worth. Some guys ride street some ride track and some ride both.
You might be able to bum a suit off a member to borrow for an event should you need to.

Did you ever pick this up?

I bought a brand new (zero miles anyway) 2010 Vulcan 900 Classic a couple weekends ago and am loving it! I wasn't able to get into a motorcycle safety course until June 1st. I know I probably wouldn't get pulled over, but I haven't driven it on the main roads too much. Getting a little tired of driving it around the neighborhood though...June 1st can't come soon enough.

99 monster 750
carbed
loud
cafe'd out...except that it needs clip ons. most people complain that the clip ons are uncomfortable, but seeing as I have a 35 inch inseam and arms to match, I'm practically leaning backwards on the stock bars.

debating keeping it or flipping it for a triumph thruxton.
any thruxton owners on here have anything to add?

monster has an ohlins rear shock, and sportbike front suspension and brakes from the same model year (i can never keep track of ducatis alphanumberic alphabet soup nomenclature...) and it's still not quite what I expected. It's also way too low to the ground for my liking. I scrape peg WAY too easily.

Thruxton is a good bike. No where near the power you are at, or the suspension. It does what it was made for.

I took a Thruxton for a test drive about two months ago. Bike looks amazing, but is very heavy for its engine size. It's certainly not what we'd call "fast" or "tossable."

I'll take your Monster if you don't want it and that sounded much better in my head...

Like the harley truck and kawasaki bike.

Was wondering what yall thought of these bikes. Or if either of you had had any other cruisers, Harley in particular, before these?

I love my Harley...but i hate Harley as a company and the prices for things. My bike is great to ride and i love the look of it...but i am seriously considering going back to a metric bike just because Harley as a company isn't what it used to be, and it's kinda dissapointing.

My friend at work has a Vulcan, he loves it. Only wishes he got something larger than the 900.

Look at Victory also, their bikes will scream. Had a friend with the 8 Ball and it would keep up with my 600 on the freeway. It was impressive.

Yeah, i wouldn't buy a cruiser smaller than a 1300. Actually looking at something in the 1600 range.

My old partner at work had a Harley and got rid of it for a Suzuki Boulevard. I know that's his favorite bike he's ever owned, and it's not a slouch in the speed department.

Yeah, heard a lot about that bike on the forums. Lot of the Harley guys seem to like the riding position and power on the Boulevard. Say it's pretty Similar to the Harley softtail.

Yeah I had a co-worker mention that to me about having a Harley Edition with the Kawasaki bike. I told him to take on a Harley bike payment while paying on that truck wouldn't be fun, plus this being my first motorcycle if I drop it or have an accident while riding it wouldn't hurt the pocketbook as much. I think I'll get one in the future down the line.

This is my first bike so I don't have any experience riding anything else to compare it to.

My partner said almost the exact same things. I think what he really liked was the more comfortable driving position (he's 6'4" and almost 300lbs) and that the Boulevard has a driveshaft instead of a chain, which he said made for smooth power delivery and not a more jerky throttle response.

Plus, it's definitely less expensive than a comparable Harley.

Yeah, we are slow. Every single Harley made is slow IMO. But there is just something about it when you hop on and ride off, I also enjoy the 80ft lbs of torque at low rpms...here's my Sportster, plan on getting an R6 to keep it company also in the future.
