Default Purchasing JDM EJ20?

Where is the best place to buy a JDM ej20? I have a 96 impreza., and am planning a turbo engine swap, I plan on getting a a JDM ej20, hopefully closed deck, aren't some of them iron block (i heard the 95's are?). I kind of want an auto tranny to for the whole sleeper factor (plus the car is auto now so it will probably be easier to swap right?). If i buy a clip or even a pretty comeplete engine/tranny/ecu, will it come with a fuel system, or am i going to need a pump, pressure regulator, lines and rail? any input on where to go and what to look for as far as a JDM ej20 would be greatly appreciated.

If you swap the tranny with a JDM tranny and center/front diff you will need to swap the rear diff for a matching JDM diff. The USDM rear diff has a different ratio then the JDM rear diff therefor the front diff will not match up.

Here are the sites I found:

This is an Australian dismantler with very good "Total Package" pricing. If you tell them you want an auto tranny I am sure they can get on very quickly.

I was able to get very good pricing from this I-club member

Nope, I don't think subaru has EVER sold a cast iron block motor. Well unless the 360 or Justy used one.

You want a 96 or newer driveline to be legal in most areas.

What the motor comes with depends on.....
What you buy.

I am getting a 1/2 cut where all that i need is stripped out to save on shipping. You might just buy the engine complete with turbo, sensors, exuast etc. Then go stand alone. Or you can get a engine with the factory wiring and ECU.

Or you can get the above with a tranny also.

etc.

The car is pretty stock now, I've got WRX rims, and I plan on either a coilover setup or Eichbachs, and KYB's, and braces, as well as replacing the bushings (anyone know who makes a busing kit?). I'm also going to get power sloted rotors, steel braided brake lines, and EBC green stuff pads. I will probably also replaces the seats with a more supportive sport seats at some point.

Sweet XT6wagon- What exactly did you end up getting? When the time comes I would love to order my engine without turbo/injecotrs/ECU/Up-Down Pipes/and no Intercooler. Where could I put in an order like that?

Default JDM engines

I greatly apprciate the info on the Australian Dismantler. the only issue I have with them is shipping since i'm on the east coast US and they are 1/2 a world away, so I would imangine its gonna cost big $$$ to ship, but I submitted a quote so we will see. Does anyone know of a good place in the US for JDM engines and parts? Has anyone had any experience with Colorado Engines?

M99GT, Email me at XT6Wagon@hotmail.com

I'll give you a list of places that I have found. Honestly though I would get the complete thing, get that installed and running, THEN switch to the stuff you want to use for best performance later. It will be MUCH simpler that way trust me. My biggest problem with the last engine swap I tried is that I tried to do everything at once, and that leads to 8 million little problems that swamp you.

Oh shipping I got a rough quote of $400 US from Aus. To El Paso Texas. It will be alot less if you pick it up at a sea port, and alot more if it has to go by truck. I am lucky that El Paso is right on a main E-W rail line so it can go Ship => Train => customs => me. The biggest costs are NOT in moving stuff bur in dealing with the paperwork, and transfers from one vehicle or ship to anouther. For instance many large port citys find it cheaper to buy gravel from China, as the freight per ton is LOWER than from the gravel pits only 100 miles away.
