Default Miss my STi. The beanmobile(yaris) has got to go...

Hey Everyone...

So in a fit of madness I sold my STi nearly two years ago, thinking that to have kids I must show some maturity and handle sacrifice. HAH, that was stupid.

Besides, I was tired of spending $500+ on gas each month and then tack on insurance, mods and maintenance and it was an expensive car to keep. Good thing I had no payments on it.

Well my commute is down to 10 mins and the wife says I should stop whining and look at a way to get rid of the yaris and back into a subie. The yaris is a decent car but it is slowly sucking the soul out of me. If I lived in Europe I could justify it, but I live in Port Moody on a mountain and an AWD daily driver would be nice. The mountain covered in snow isn't super easy to get up in the yaris, even with snows on.

The look of the 2008 hatch has really been growing on me... and I could justify that as a hatch it is a "family car" right?

Im always amused by people selling 4 door subies for something to have a family in, where as I buy a 4 door subie cause I figure mature = 4 doors.

lol grats on your eventual return to the world of good times.

Have you considered either Legacy wagon or the Forester? Both have plenty of pull and still suitable for a small family.

That's how I got my current suby. Previous owner had a kid, couldn't fit the car seat in the RS so he sold it to me. I sold my wrx and two shakes of a lambs tail latter, I bought a mazda 5 for the family car.

Don't feel bad, we all fall for the whole "need to be more responsible" thing. The truth is that the kid's took their first ride in the FMIC equipped STi this morning, and loved all of the grunts and noises that it makes. We're all just big kids, right?

Would you look at getting into an STI again?

The 08/09' models have really grown on me. Their comfortable and smooth, plus they look good with wide wheels. There's also a nice 07' Limited for sale in the classifieds. Low key with black leather?

I've purchased my kid's car seats so I can fit 3 across the back. Now I can have fun with my entire family on board.

Ahhh well I always said the STi was just a "spirited family car". I sold it to get out of paying nearly $1000 per month in expenses - without a loan payment as I bought the car with cash.

Driving an STi for a 2 hour commute every day and then making regular trips from downtown to richmond and back ate up a ton of gas.

What I should have done, in hindsight; is bought a beater car for the commute. Kept the STi for weekends and such. Oh well...

Ya hindsight is really just a kick in the teeth for the most part, but ya, I commute daily to and from richmond (northshore) and so it does use gas, but I know I wouldn't be happy driving a crappy car, if I didn't have something to look forward too (weekend/track car/ WHY) so I pay to play, even if most of the miles are commuting.

Right now I'm looking for anything really, but I am really loving the 08+ hatch models. I'd love to find an 08 STi used or at a smoking good deal.

I've been looking through the classified for a bit, going to keep my eye's open... taking my time to find the right deal.

The problem with the 07 is it's too low key. I _liked_ the wing and don't care what the other parents at daycare think hahaha

Ouch, that's a serious commute too.

This time around I'm going to do things right.... I hope

Buy my 98 RS and 05 STI motor

Do the swap, it'll be faster than an STI and better fuel mileage!

You are nuts if you'd sell that car!

Seriously....

Besides, I don't have the gearhead skills to keep up with a vehicle that customised. I r fail if it's above & beyond changing pads/oil/etc.

my kids and wife love the 93 legacy, suits the family well, although i would feel safer if they drove around a tribeca, or a huge titan pick up

Yah I've read some problems with it... but nothing serious and seems all would be covered by warranty.

The Forrester is nice but I have an SUV already.

Hey I just checked the Subie website and see that they lowered the price on the STi's and came out with some new models....

WRX265 doesn't seem half bad...

Hmmm stuff to think about.
