Default Opinions - My OEM 6 CD no longer works

My OEM CD changer stopped working tonight, it is spitting out the cds, everything else works. What should I do?

1. Get it repaired at dealer.
or
2. Find an aftermarket (used) head unit.

Not sure how much it'll cost to get a used head unit with installation. Is the Suby audio sys. easy to work with? It's completely stock.

I mostly listen to the radio (80% of the time) and occasionally the cd.

Any idea what the ballpark is to get this fixed or install an aftermarket unit?

get used OEM one or find an aftermarket one

repair is not a option, will cost you a lots of $$
As long as you have harness for aftermarket head unit, it's easy to install.

If I replace it I probably won't do it myself. Should I budget around $300 installed for an aftermarket unit?

Do it yourself. Easy swap. Or throw me an offer for mine from a 05 STi.

Harness is around $20
You need the DIN pocket. $40 or so at the dealership (not sure on the price now)
Then whatever your head unit costs.

It is an easy swap. Hardest part is pulling off the surrounding plastic on the dash to get access to the head unit. After that it is just plug and play.

I'll sell you my old tape deck from my RS.

It's a very easy job to do yourself. Lots of instructions online.

LaterZ!

If I am ripping the old one out I might as well get something different. I am not an audio person but those somewhat affordable slide out/2 DIN DVD screens look tempting, ie. Jensen, JVC, Clarion. Looks like I could find a used for about $200-250.

Are they decent? Will they fit my car and are they easy to install?

Don't get Jensen, JVC and Clarion are okay.

Buy the adapter harness and the installation is pretty straight forward.
