May your line be smooth

Default 1/4 Mile Observation

Last year my car was equipped with the following power mods:

2000 RS w/
DIY Cone filter on the Throttle Body
UR Underdrive Pulley
Random Technology Cat (2.25")
Stromung Cat Back (Stainless Dual-tip)
Using 205/50/R16 Kumhos

At a local dragstrip (said to have longer 1/4 times than most in the area), I managed a 15.67 run as my best of all last year.

This year, I have since added:

ACT Stage 1 Clutch
15-lb Lightened Stock Flywheel
Borla Headers

The ACT does not grip quite as well during the launch as the stock clutch. It is fairly easy to slip, but seems to engage much faster when used carefully. The Flywheel made a huge difference in shifting and acceleration. I can't say for sure where the Borla improved things, but the mid-range feels more improved than the top end.

My new best 1/4 time is 15.31 seconds. After that run, I consistently ran 15.39 another 4 times in a row.

The best I could get on the strip was 15.5 @ 86mph.

Mods:

Ganzflow intake, 2.25" crushbent POS midpipe w/ apexi n1 muffler, underdrive pulley & falken azenis tires. Car weighed in at 2930 w/ me in it, half tank of gas, and spare & tool box..full interior too.

Drag racing is too boring lol, plus I do MUCH better autocrossing.

Check out the times I pulled In this thread.

These are with:
COBB/Random high-flow cat
JC Sports CAI and 2.5" Cat-back w/ arospeed exhaust 4" tip
Borla headers
COBB street cams
P7000 215/45WR16s
STI springs/KYB AGXs suspension combo
20mm rear sway bar
front and rear top strut mount braces

No engine management (i.e. S-AFC).

With a better clutch/flywheel combo and stage 2 heads from COBB will take me under 14.3s.

ive heard that capital and cecil are the quickest tracks in the md/VA area, and i guess capital lives up to that rep if you ran a 15.2 with a sub . im going to have to visit that track sometime. do they have a homepage?

Hmmm...what kind of times are those? That track must not be correct, as most subies with intake and exhaust will run 15.4s if they are lucky. That track must be wrong.

Ok I have been Dragging Cars on MIR and Capital RACEway for 5.5 years now. MY best time has always been at MIR. It might be because i run my car at the CAr shows were there is a big crowd and i get all pumped up!@:rolleyes! SO ?? BUt Capital and MIR is even. SOme say CAPITAL is on a slight incline!?? Go to MIR if you want a Real good acurate time. MIR has a nice track> Capitals has been beat in up pretty well Lot of Rocks on the end of the Track. ( you better not loose or u will sacrifice your front bumper fog lights and windshield )

www.capitolraceway.com

I've raced at capitol almost every weekend for the last 10 yrs. I bracket race on saturdays there and go to cecil on sundays. I've raced every track in MD, been to moroso and race all the big bracket races on the east coast.
MIR:
Always has a cross wind from left to right. Elevation is near sea level. And the 60 ft clocks are really only 58ft.
Capitol Raceway:
Always a head wind. Traction has gone away since they graded the track a few years ago. 58ft again. Too many street cars tear it up on Friday nights so there is marginal traction on sat. Higher elevation than mir. Highest mph in right lane.
Cecil County:
Always a tailwind. Car hooks much better than at capitol but has a slower 60 (true) ft. Great et when it is cold out.
75-80:
**** hole with no car count anymore. Really has been neglected in the past few years. no cars=no money.
Still the best people to hang with and by far the best food in the state. I just wish there was a car count there.
Mason-Dixonhagerstown)
good people and good food. If I wake up late I will go there instead of cecil on sundays. High in altitude so et is a little slow if your car is rich.

MIR is a national event surface so it is very smooth plus it was resurfaced last year.

The only incline is in the shut down area. There are no rocks at the end of capitol so I don't know where you got that info. Maybe nuts and bolts falling of the crappy cars that the homies run. (I'm from the hood so don't flame me) They are all my homies.

Maybe we can hook up this friday there. I want to run my TS since I moved the foglight out some to get more air in my intake. I can also show you my homemade intake, I think you'll like it. (I can't get the pictures to download)

Now it's gonna freakin rain. Figures doesn't it. I'm going to go to my friends shop and work on the racecar. If they are open and it's not raining, I'll head down (it's 10 min away). I should be extremely easy to find, SRP TS with Tony Stewart sticker in back glass.

I can confirm that 75/80 is normally slower then most tracks in the area.

My father raced mainly 75/80 and Mason Dixon back in the late 70s early 80s. He would normally run 3 tenths slower at 75/80. And that was when the track was in better shape. That place is a crapper hole now. You can see the rutts that have worn into the starting area from the not so grand "Grandstands".

Definetly Capitol. If your not doing anything tomorrow stop down. I will be there tomorrow racing my buddies dragster. Just look for the only (really bright) Kia Green rear engine dragster. You can't miss it in the staging lanes. We park behind the stands down by the gas pumps.
