Default 08 STI TONS of gear noise on decel

When ever decelerating in a low gear I hear a lot of gear noise. Mostly notice it while in 1st to prevent accelerating down hill or in 2nd while going from stop sign to stop sign. How much noise is too much noise?

It's a new car with warrenty. If you think you have a issue have it checked out.

Have the dealership look at it.. if they repair it up to 3 times for the same issue.. it's lemon law time..

There is some pronounced gear noise in the STI. I definitely noticed it when mine was new.

You leave it in 1st gear going downhill? Why not just use the brakes? Must be one mother-steep hill...

The sound is consistent, and is just a whine, not a grinding or anything serious sounding. It took a few hours for every one to tell me it's normal instead of leaving my car at the dealer for the day.

Leaving my complex there is a decent grade that curves sharply around the building. There's really only enough room for 1 car around the corner, so I take it very slowly in first gear down the hill. Otherwise, 1st is too jerky to ever do any kind of driving/decelerating with out shaking the change out of my passenger (might not be a bad idea, actually! )
