Default New Porsche 911 GT3 and Cayenne Diesel

Quote:
The two Porsche models, which are publicly shown for the first time, come with the remarkable specialties of Porsche: active performance and superb economy. The latest 911 GT3 once more comes with more potency, speed and dynamism than the previous model especially in the area of driving dynamics and performance.

The normally aspirated 6-cylinder powerplant comes with maximum power yield of 435bhp (320kW) about 20bhp over the preceding model. Acceleration rate is pegged at 4.1 seconds from 0-100km/h and reaches a ceiling speed of 312km/h (193mph). The GT3ís external appearance has been improved by high-tech aero upgrades, while downforce have substantially been increased to more than twice that of the preceding version.

The Porsche GT3 also comes with PSM Porsche Stability Management switching on and off in particular phases The second model is the Cayenne Diesel which will be opened at the Geneva event. The merging of Porscheís dynamic and adaptive SUV with a highly economical and high-torque power engine provides remarkable benefits when traveling on long distances or while towing a trailer.

Moreover, the Cayenne comes with remarkable driving dynamics, safety and off-road characteristics for which it is well known. On the exterior, the Cayenne looks about the same with the V6 powerplant and the Caynenne brand name on the tailgate. The V6 comes with a 3.0-liter displacement, is extra-smooth and refined enough to develop 240bhp (176kW) and a maximum speed of 214km/h (133mph).

Maximum torque achieve is 550Nm (405lb-ft) at 2,000rpm only. The acceleration rate of the Cayenne is 0-100km/h in 8.3 seconds with its Tiptronic S transmission as standard. The powerplant boasts of a fuel consumption rate of 9.3-liters diesel/100km or 30.4mpg imp, giving the Cayenne a range of 1,000km (620mi) with a 100-liter fuel tank. The diesel comes with a 6-speed Tiptronic S auto transmission.

The PSM Porsche Stability Management is featured as standard on the Cayenne has been intentionally geared toward the diesel powerplant, at the same time intelligent PTM Porsche Traction Management offers a perfect interdependence of very good on-road and off-road driving traits, appropriately channeling power to both wheels at the front and back.

Default More details of the upcoming Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

Quote:
After we received some news today regarding the Geneva Motor Show debut of the new Cayenne Diesel, Porsche also released more details of its upcoming Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid.

The new vehicle is powered by a supercharged Audi 3.0-liter V6 engine with Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) capable to deliver 333 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque from 2,900 to 5,300, rpm but also a 52 hp three-phase synchronous electric motor that produces up to 221 lb-ft of torque and also acts as an alternator. Both of the engines are connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Also on board is a 154-lb. no-maintenance 38 kW nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery, measuring 13.7″ x 24.9″ x 11.5″ and found in the spare tire well. According to the manufacturer the new vehicle will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.8 seconds and will emit 20% less CO2 than comparable combustion engine vehicles with similar power output. With the electric motor installed the vehicle can hit an impressive 86 mph (138 km/h) without even use the combustion engine.

The Cayenne S Hybrid will use less than 9 liters/100 km. Porsche assures us that the new hybrid system will be available also for the new Porsche Panamera gran-turismo!

GT3 looks even sexier, Cayenne looks just as dumpy as ever. If I am lucky, SOME DAY I will get the chance to flog a GT3 or GT2. (daydreaming...)

435 bhp out of a NA 6 cyl and twice the downforce of the last gt3 and more sexy too. I may get flamed for this but I would gladly take one of these over a gt-r any day.

i think you would be a fool not to take the gt3 over the gt-r... but then again, gt3 costs like 3x the GT-R....

no way not even twice as much the 08 cost just over $100k hell an rs is $125k. Money not taken into account I would still take the porsche though and not even feel embarrassed when a gt-r owner was slightly faster.

Glad to see that they are making the Cayenne more main stream for the US.

I will still be waiting until the '07+ Turbos come down in price a little before going for one.

Makes one wonder what Honda might have have come up with if they created the original NSX today with a similar displacement to the new GT3..
