Default Looking for a Starter

I am severely interested in cars, basically I have my Daily Driver and have been looking for a car to pick up to basic turn into a beast

are GC Impreza's great for starter builds? I can find one relatively cheap and I love AWD, what engines should I look for or avoid? 2.0? 1.8? 2.2? I would also be Turbocharging it

IDk I love the GC Impreza (I love WRX's overall but they are out of $$ range, cant save money at the moment) they are unique, AWD, and have a great reputation... I just dont hear of many people building non WRX Impreza's most of what I have seen is people just swapping STi engines in..

and this is in this forum because I am looking for an engine to turbocharge so I thought it fitting

Id say go with a cheap impreza L preferably with a 2.2 since they can take the turboing. Now your not going to get your 20lbs of boost but done right ive seen people 15-18psi. I plan on doing 5-7psi for daily driving on my 2.2
