Default Car in service need help asap

To make a long story short my car broke down while traveling cross country and I had to leave it behind at the subaru in jackson MS. I felt that the timing belt had gone. THey say my turbo is also completely shot (quite likely, it was eating oil the last couple hundred miles) but they are telling me they cant do anymore diagnostics until the turbo is replaced.

I currently have a vf39 on there, and wanted to keep it the same, but they wont allow me to install upgrades there. So I was hoping to just fly back vf39 in hand and swap it. Is it really not possible to check for other problems if the turbo is gone?

Thanks
Alex

We cannot help you. Your car is with a skilled mechanic and if he says no, then it means no. We cannot second guess a diagnosis without seeing the car or hearing the symptoms and without either, we are clueless. Trust them as our "help" will only cloud the issue.
