Default My car buying experience

In January I bought my wife a new subaru because I've fallen in love with these cars and feel I need to share my experience. We just had our daughter and my wife's car was being problematic so new car it is.

I work in Fort MacMurray and had 2 days to buy the car. Went in signed the papers yada yada. They told me "the car has a couple scratches that will need to be buffed out" No problem I told them the dates the next time I would be in town and that we'll need to do it then cause I don't want my wife dealing with this with 2 small kids and whatnot. "not a problem we'll book the appointment" I was told. The next day I come in to pick up the car and while doing the walk around after all papers have been signed there are four quarter to loonie sized paint flakes missing along the rocker panel on the passenger side. (Buffed out hey?) No matter, I took the car.

2 weeks later I come back and take the car in, no appointment had been made. The only time they can do it is when I'm back up north, I arrange a "courtesy" car for my wife. (I just want the car I paid for) My wife goes in and gets the "courtesy" car makes it 5 minutes down the road and gets a flat. They bring her another car with the windshield cracked right through her line of sight. Car is fixed all is well.

I get a phone call saying I have a $322 bill with them for a new tire on the courtesy car! (WTF!) I priced the tire out on tire trends and it was 289 or something and they wanted 260 plus labour. They were trying to make me pay for the tire on their courtesy car at retail? (making a profit off the courtesy cars?) I threw the $260 on the counter and told them to EFF themselves. (need to work on my temper)

Like I said I have been known to have a bit of temper so maybe I'm way out to lunch here and this is all perfectly normal, but it doesn't feel like it to me. I wanted some feed back as to whether I'm just a jerk or this is a bad experience. That's why I haven't said the dealerships name. (But if anyone asked me I would tell them my story and that they will never see my 2 subarus or the other 2 subarus in my family at that dealership again)

CN: Goes in to buy a new car in a rush. Car has damage, dealer tells him appropriate arrangements have been made to fix. They weren't. Gets courtesy car, car gets a flat in 5 mins. Gets another car (with broken window), few days later gets a $322 bill for the tire.

Oh and yah, that sucks. Definitely not normal. But did the tire just get a puncture of the sidewall was damaged etc?

What dealer was it by the way?

Can't believe it!! I just took the Wolfe License plate holders off because I don't want to advertise for them and the Nimrod that put the plates on just rammed 2 self tappers into my front bumper cover instead of using the provide mounting holes?????

I would have told them to shove that tire bill up that a$$... If they would have done the job in the first place, you wouldn't have needed a loaner car!

Word.

I would definitely be tryiong to recover that $$$. Take it to the sales manager and tell him your story, I would be surprised if they didn't try to make things right.

They did the exact same thing on my car. I was extremely P/O'd.
This was after the fact I told them I wanted NO advertising on the car when I came to pick it up.

Couldn't have said it any better.

This is why I deal with a different Suby dealership now.

When I bought my car at Richmond Subaru I took the plate frames off at the dealership before leaving.

When I took it back for the first free oil change, they put more back on the car.

Now I rock a Subaru of Las Vegas plate frame on the front of my car

Don't you know James? Every servicing at Richmond Subaru comes with a free set of Richmond Subaru plate frame

And consider yourself lucky, last time I went there, they ran out of the Richmond Subaru plate frame. So they decided to give me Richmond Suzuki instead...

Sounds like pretty poor service... I would have lost it when I came back and the paint was flaking off...

"Screw you guys, I'll take my business elsewhere.. have fun with the recession!!"

..and as for the tire.. costs $16 to patch it. I would have paid for the patch job and nothing more...
