Question 2.5 Heads on a 2.2 N/A?

I am sitting on a 95 Impreza L Sedan with a blown 2.2 non turbo... I have a 97 2.2 engine to replace it with... I also have access to a blown 2.5 out of a 2000 RS with the exact problem not identified. What mix and match combo will get me the most power? I have heard of running the Ej22 block with the Ej25 heads and all kinds of craziness but have to yet in all my searching find out how to go about this. Suggestions?

take the blown 2.5 if the block is still fine, and build it with forged Internals

2.2's are bulletproof from everything I have read. The 2.5's on the other hand are not real reliable so I am looking at options that involve the 2.2 block with other heads or something like that.

The 2.2 block and 2.5 heads will net you about a 8.8:1 comp. ratio. So lower than stock. That Phase I EJ25 block and 2.2 heads will get you 11.5:1 comp. ratio and make you run premium fuel. If you want a boosted motor later on, use the 2.2 block and 2.5 heads (assuming they are both in good condition). Obviously the EJ25 block and EJ22 heads will make more power in N/A form. If you boost the lower compression motor it will make more power.

There is a "high compression frankenstein" thread you should read as well.
