Not really much to say here...

I took the badge off to paint it...and while cleaning off the original paint, it cracked into 8 pieces.

I need a replacement. anyone got one lying around?

to be honest, i think the brake cleaner that i was using to clean off the paint just simply broke down the molecular build of the plastic...the thing was fine when i started...and then just shattered into 8 pieces in my hand. brake cleaner ftl..

Oops

I did some reading on the DIY badge, and see other people have used brake cleaner.

Next time will be nail polish remover.

i saw that too. maybe you just applied it too heavily...

btw, nail polish remover is pretty much just acetone. you can get a quart-sized can of acetone for about the same price as a bottle of nail polish remover.

Don't let it soak in acetone. I had a spare badge I was messing with. Rubbing on nail polish remover with a q-tip, letting it soak, and then scraping worked. However, I also tried pouring some on and it spilled onto the paper towel my badge was sitting on. It caused 3 micro fractures inside the plastic.
