I checked "Bloodstream", its aiight. Lyrically strong, but I feel like slappin' MC Reppond for his particular high-pitch tone. Actually, its more like kill than slap, but I still wish these guys well and respect their accomplishment in securing this venue. Verbal Threat sounds familiar, so I may have heard them open for a main act somewhere south of LA. I'll see if my crew is interested. Oh yeah, and Black Eyed Peas are going to perform on June 2nd at HOB Anaheim.

For those of you who like these cats, you should definitely seek the following albums unless you've already done so:

Self Scientific - "Self Science"
Binary Star - "Masters of the Universe"
Mr. Lif - "Phantom I"
Buckshot - "BDI Thug"
Masta Ace - "Disposable Arts" (Highly Slept On)
Nas - "The Lost Tapes"
Talib Kweli - "Quality"
Boot Camp Clik - "Chosen Few"

Yo hip hop heads. Peep my crew's(Cerritos Allstars) radio show. It is live and hosted by Radiostorm.com on Mondays from 8-12, and rebroadcasts are played 24/7. Peep www.cerritosallstars.com

Repesenting the socal hip hop scene!

There is a message board on the site. Check out the thread I started re: The Most Lyrically Tight Song ever. My nomination: Thieves in the Night by Mos Def and Kweli.

P.S. Did anyone go see Dela perform last week at HOB?

I'll check it out today! Thanks for the link.

Oh BTW, did any of you attend the Wakeup Show Freestyle Battle event with Gang Starr, Das Efx, Planet Asia & Black Sheep at the Henry Fonda Theatre that took place about a week and a half ago?

Damn. I selpt on that show. Although I'm happy that I finally got to see Gang Starr perform a couple months ago. Hip hop doesn't get more pure than Primo and Guru. But damn, those fools are old.

Bumpin right now in my factory 6 disk changer (with OEM simulated carbon fiber): Ozomatli, Haiku D'etat, Reflection Eternal, Common, Latyrix, Blackalicious. The handy tape deck is sporting an early 90s compilation by my brother, D.J. Redline of Audio FX and the Cerritos Allstars Crew.

What other area crew be representing within the SCIC?

HEHEHEHEHEEEEE!!! Since we're only a year apart in age, I think I can guess what's on your Bro's mixtape. I personally think that the early 90's era had some of THE BEST HIP HOP I have ever heard! I feel a lot of it on a personal level.

Yo, have you checked Self Scientific "Self Science" and Canibus "Rip The Jacker"? It's Classic Material, no doubtl!

Word! You know REAL Hip Hop! Exit is a clean ass album, his flow reminds me of a Black Thought/Dice Raw/Q-Tip vocal mixture, but K-Os has an intelligent style of his own that I deeply dig. Though it's so reminisent of the Roots' illadelph era.

Anyone who hasn't heard any of these artists mentioned above in this thread must check them out, buy the CD's, go to their concerts and support the culture!

Did you see him when he came to town a few weeks ago?

Pigeon John is the homie, I'm realy good friends with his record label. Not feeling L.A. Symph's new stuff though... "The End is Now" is not really that good... I'm more a fan of their older 'King Kong' type tracks... Pigeon John is not too shabby though...

Immortal Technique's new stuff is ****ing awesome though...

Just caught this thread. It's cool to see some hip hop heads here. I agree Low End Theory=best hip hop album. And Midnight Marauders=classic. Early 90's positive hip hop is the best, it's still alive here in 04 right here in the LA underground! Anybody know some good underground hip hop shops? I go to the Basement Gear on Ventura Blvd. in the valley...it's a cool ltttle shop.

That would be pimp Considering I only ever saw you in a shirt and tie the heiro shirt would be crazy Thats dope. I know I would be stoked

I performed with Opio up in SB a month and a half ago... It was the first time I got to meet Del.... It was one of the first times I was starstruck

I mean 'No Need For Alarm' was so influential to me... I just was speechless.

Out of all of them Pep Love is a really nice guy. Him and my friend Cory (Grouch) are really tight.
