Default Sea to Sky Hwy Opening April 1st

So construction is due to be completed for April 1st, 2009.

Anyone wanna do a cruise up the new Sea to Sky Hwy when its fully opened up?

Meet up on the north shore/west van, and then head up the brand new hwy to squamish.
Maybe a couple stops at the pull-outs along the way, but we could christen the new hwy on either the opening night, or the weekend that follows.

Anyone interested? either dinner in squampton, or maybe just up n back.

we could be one of the 1st car clubs to lay tracks on the wicked new road

Where did you get that info? The only thing I can find on their site says 'substantial completion' in fall 2009. It would be great if they're done early, would make Whistler Bike Park trips this summer much quicker.

EDIT: Hmm, here's the BC government news release I found dated Jan 29/'09. Says it's only 80% complete and will be finished in the fall:

http://www2.news.gov.bc.ca/news_rele...010-000108.htm

Ohh.... I get it now, April 1st.... should have clued in with a date like that.

my roomate does stabilization for the hill sides on the hwy.

he is basically one of the last crews to do work there, as they are the 1st crew in and last crew out.
completion is set for April 1st to be open to public traffic

I have fond memories of being bored on a Friday night and going to a drive on the S2S. I suspect it's going to have a lot more traffic enforcement on it now as well.

I wouldn't bet on all the construction being done April 1. Maybe the overland route will be done which will be big.

I dont think it will be done to whistler, but the overland route is supposed to be done and opened up on that day

still be a good enough reason to cruise up and have dinner somewhere out of the ordinary for most of us

Will be in Squamish this Thursday, March 5th for a meeting in the morning and then off to Rocket Rally to see what new goodies they for my car.

Anyone want to have lunch on Thursday at Squamish?

we went up after our wedding, we asked to how much to upgrade to the penthouse, they accidentally gave it to us for 50 bucks.

yes, i shat on the same toilet as Ms Cameron Diaz

p.s the toilet has one of those things that sprays water on your butt to clean it

We're going up for 2 nights for $99/night, part of their 20th Anniversary sale!

too many cops....i have a couple nice long curvy roads with no traffic and no police that i rock on a nice summer day...

but posting them on the interwebs where stupid cops can see isn't that smart...i hate the police

sea to sky is too busy of a road to have any fun on.....it's asking for trouble
