Subaru Stars 2.5 rs turbo

im kinda new here so heres what i have 2001 impreza 2.5 rs auto just picked up everything for a stock wrx setup and just orderd a hydra ems the biggest question is i need to replace the head gasket so i was going to get head studs but will the sti head gasket or some other gasket lower my compression so i can get better numbers?? when i do the head gasket ill be swapping a 5 speed into it as well thanks for your help josh

you can get other HG to slighty lower your compression.

Cometic is the best aftermarket replacement.


Might as well toss some better pistons in while you are donig all that.

yea you can only run 5-7 psi without dropping the compression ratio, an easy way to do that is run wrx or sti rods/crank or even a 22t rod and crank setup

or just buy an STI block for cheap and use that instead to be relaible....more people have STI blocks then your regular WRX or EJ250 or 255...

How much do the HG actually lower the Compression Ratio?

not much , definately not enough to make a difference in the ability to run higher boost

rebuild the block with STI parts.. they can be had for cheap.
