Most of those "xenon" lights from ebay are junk. Also, fog lights and "HID" kits are about the exact opposite of each other. Go ahead and read through this: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=664361

This can also happen when you put a poorly made HID kit in a foglight

WOW!...Thats the worst case I've ever seen!
Personally, I have tried many different kinds of bulbs in my Baja-(PIAA Super Plasma GTX, PIAA Extreme White, Wagner, Nokia, Streetglow Xenon). The best and the brightest bulbs I have found are "Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's". The Ultra's give off a lot longer and wider beam at night. I use them in my high beams and driving lights, but since Sylvania does'nt currently make a H1 bulb in their "Ultra's"(for my low beams), I use the regular Sliverstars for them. I travel home at night so I'm quite happy with them!

When I was useing the Silverstars, they seemed to last anywhere from 6 months to a year. With the Silverstar Ultras, I have had them in for a little over a year so far with no issues--they are lasting longer!

Thanks for the links, that was a huge amount of information. I checked with the service guy at my ocal Subie dealer he suggested just going with Sylvanias clear vision, there not xenon, but they ultra bright and last significanly longer. I wasnt aware, until now, that the HID lights dont last very long.

my headlight bulb went out yesterday and thought about HID but I decided to stick with Sylvanias. I went to autozone and paid $10.99 for 9007 bulb.
my 03 manual recommended H1 type for lower beam then I realized my baja does not have same head light

check your headlight before you buy the bulb.
clear headlight require 9007 (high and low beam)
black headlight require H1 for low beam

LOL, Yeah I have finally learned that the hard way, twice ...
Once from the owner's manual, once from the parts guide at the local auto parts store. Both show that the 2003 has a separate bulb for high beam and low beam.

Ya, the non-turbo Baja's have the high/low beams in one bulb. The turbo's have separate bulbs for the high/low beams. My last Baja was a naturally aspirated; I'm glad I moved up to the Turbo!

it depends on what N/A you have. I think the base baja (5mt and cloth seat) got the singles and the classic (auto and leather) got the doubles. but yeah the turbos all got the doubles. again i think.

my N/A 03 classic (leather auto) has the seperated headlights.

My Bad! I thought all naturally asp. Baja's were like that. At least it was cheaper to replace two stock bulbs, rather than four(not including the driving lights).

I'm thinking that once I get around to trying a projector retrofit I'm going to do it with a set of the single bulb headlights and a set of FX35 projectors. I need to find out about the wiring for that though, if I can have a harness made that plugs into the stock wiring and keeps functioning high beams. Thankfully Lightwerkz is around to make things like that.

yeah, retrofit is a good way to go. I have some A4 projectors I was going to use but lost interest. If you do it post up some pics. Does that legacy still have high beams?

Yeah, I have an 03 Baja with separated High/Low beam bulbs. I'm using PIAA currently but will probably try something else for the next ones just to experiment.

I have a N/A 03 classic that is manual with leather and the doubles.
I think the "sport" is the only one that didn't get the doubles.
