Default HVAC color change question

So I tried changing the color of my HVAC to blue by using blue bulb covers over the 2 bulbs in the back. I have a 2002 WRX and I read somewhere that the faces on 2002's as well as the knobs were clear and only have the bulb covers affecting the color. However, when I changed the covers and turned the lights on, the color was sort of a greenish blue. More blue than green but definitely not as blue as I wanted. Has anyone else changed the color of their HVAC on an '02 to blue with good results? I didn't know if the HVAC had to be take apart and scraped or something like that. Thanks for the input.

Would I need to change the bulbs completely?

no it doesnt have to be taken apart
i think the bulb covers you used were just too light of a blue, or at least they are once the light is on
try finding a darker one, or put 2 on each, it will come out darker

I would suggest you to go for the LED route. Blue bulb covers aren't blue enough for your needs.

Thanks. Correct, I just used two of the 3-way led bulbs from the link I showed you. I recommend you get the sockets )twist lock bases) for them to in case your's give you problems; they're only .29 each anyways.
