Cool Borg Warner S256 Rotated Build

Edit: Results- Page 3

Kit is from Sargent Power and Performance, i am proud to have their very first kit to be fitted on my car. If i am correct, this is the first time this turbo is getting offered in a rotated kit, and very very few people running this turbo. This is a great set up something right in dead center of 30r and 35r, will put down numbers very close to that of 35r, and spool quick as/if not quicker than 30r. My goal is to have full spool by 3500rpm. That's not the best part, whole kit will probably be cheaper than a 30r rotated kit.

BW S256, 4" inlet, .63 ar with Extended tip
Sargent Performance 3" Big MAF Intake
Sargent Performance2" EWG Up Pipe
38mm ewg dumped to Atmosphere (i opted out of a the 44mm)
Sargent PerformanceWastegate Dump tube
Sargent Performance 3" Rotated Down pipe

All the piping and flanges are made of T304 Stainless Steel.

It's going on a Stock internals Hybrid, and car already got all the other supporting mods for the kit. Stay tuned for more updates and dyno results. Cough Meth or E85 Cough

That turbo will spool fast but it only has a nice midrange. My friend is swapping his out.

thease really wake up at about 21psi, and still make power at 30psi+, won't be pushing that much on stock block, probably up 25psi on E85, and 22psi on pump....to be safe.

If i am correct someone on here put this on a stock 06 wrx...stock injectors, stock fuel pump, only upgraded intake, d-pipe, and made 340whp at 14 or 15psi on pump gas.

The S256, I have been talking with the owner of Bullseye and he has seen these make 550 wheel hp on other motors. He just has not seen any real data on the Subarus. I guess we will see how things go. I am kind of scared to push it too much on UpSideDownDesi's stock block and rods though. The WRX heads and cams will be a limitation, but we have already discussed that and are making plans for the future.

So what progress was made this weekend? Did you get the kit finished and installed like you were hoping?

naa they were not able to work on it this weekend, going to knock it out during the week and hopefully on the dyno by upcoming weekend. I am waiting of few more things to come in so they can also go on the car on time.

added more pix...car should be finished by this weekend. Then all the exhaust parts, intercooler pipping will be going to get ceramic coated, headers and throttle body for P&P. So i can see how much of a difference those lil mods will make.

It is turning out really well. We did switch turbo distributors though to Bullseye turbos. All the future builds will use the Bullseye turbos. We would have had it finished this weekend, but we ran out of Argon. Would you believe in a city as large as Atlanta, there is not a SINGLE place that you can get 100% argon on a Sunday?

Update .......

At 22 psi it still was not opening, so had to give up on tuning for today. I don't know if they shipped it with the wrong spring or what the deal was. We are going to try to figure it out in the next day or so though.

The GOOD part is this turbo is just SICK. It was putting down 22 psi by 3600-3700 rpm consistently in 3rd gear. We did a little highway pull on the way to the dyno and it was hitting 18 psi by 3500-3600 rpm. This thing spools up REALLY quick. It was putting down around 370 lb/ft of torque by 3700 rpm...that translates into around 420+ on a dynojet I would guess (judging by cars that put down 375-400 at Topspeed's dynojet netted around 325-340 or so on the land and sea). So I really expect good things from this set up when all is said and done!

We hope to have dyno plots and all that good stuff here in the next couple days. As soon as we get the issue with the wastegate sorted (or get a new one on there...whichever can happen first) then we will finish the tune and get it back on the dyno.

I want some dyno numbers, E85 helps spool the turbo quicker also....Cool build, I like that shorty up pipe too..

that pull was on pump gas, 93 octane. No E85 yet, and yet to ceramic coat, wrap, p&P the exhaust manifold, up pipe, and turbo housing. 22psi by 3500rpm on pump anyone?

A 58 lb/min turbo at 22psi makes 10-15whp more across the powerband than a 52 lb/min turbo at 21 psi?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? No way!!!!

The only thing thats mildly impressive about that chart is the BW spooling faster....but its only ~200rpm.

This quote from their other test is simply a blatant lie saying a t67 cant efficiently go over 25psi.....thats straight bullshiiiiite

"While the S200 was able to safely run up to 32 psi, this chart shows an S200 at an efficient 30psi pull compared to the T67's maximum efficient boost level of 25 psi. The tune for the S200 only differed from the T67 tune by adjusting AFRs where needed to maintain a safe ratio. "

The only way thats true is if that t67 has a tiny turbine on it.....then its not really a "fair" comparo.

http://www.bullseyepower.com/testdata/td_s200_acura.asp

scroll down and look at the s200 @ 25psi then compare that to the t67 @ 25psi.....whoa...who wins now?!?!?!?

Hey, the BW turbos might be the greatest thing ever and probably do work better than old garrett technology, BUT BUT BUT when i see comparos done on websites that solely sell 1 turbo brand....gee which one do you think they are gonna say kicks ass?

You simply cant make comparos and run 1 turbo at 25 psi and 1 at 30 psi.....its a no brainer which ones gonna make more power.

The whole title of the thing is just fishy s200 vs t67. Which s200? Is it the 256 or the 258? which t67? what turbines on it?

its like just saying 18g vs 20g.....you can get very different results if you compare a td05/7cm 18g to a 3"/td06/8cm 20g or if you compare a td06/8cm 18g to a 2.4" td05/7cm 20g.

Sorry for my rant. nothing against the OP or his setup, good to try something different. I just dont like bullseye's comparos.

E85 FTW, but i am limited by my 930cc's rite now. When I recourse some of the cost. Then gonna upgrade rails, lines, dual pumps, and 1200cc. We should be still be able to play a lil with E85.

Nice setup.

Happy to see some others are running the borg warner turbos. I am currently running the same turbo with my custom rotated setup http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1635204. At 14lbs we made 314hp/318tq but thats with stock clutch, stock inj., stock pump. but will be getting retuned in april.

Good luck with the build and can't wait to see the results.

nice setup bro.

Im running a S258 with a .85ar hotside and full race twinscroll kit. These turbos are def. very good, and a decent amount cheaper then any garrett bb turbo on the market. Im happy with mine.

UPDATE:
aite so ran into a problem....ugh

When 0% wastegate duty cycle is entered it boosts through the roof, wastegate doesn't open up. Then when 100% wastegate duty cycle is entered it boosts to spring pressure? I am using GM Boost Solenoid, Swapped it out for another one and it did the same thing?? Any clue what might be going on. Tuner said wires connected to the boost solenoid are right? He compared the wiring to his 03 WRX and mine is 02, did wiring change between the years? This is frustrating.
