Default STi Petition

I know this may sound gay, but maybe it helped the Evo VII people

Evo VII Petition

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to make our own? I'm sure that everyone at i-club would sign...

just a thought

Yes, I think it would be a good idea, it is just very important to let them know (in that petition) that we want an edition that is not watered down like the current WRX!

I'm confused..watered down wrx? If you compare it to the JDM wrx yes it is a little tamer. If you compare ours to any other countries it doesn't look tame at all. As for the petition I dunno how much good it would do. SOA knows they can sell how ever many sti's they bring over. AND I hope they realize how bad they will be hurting if they don't have a car to compete with the evo. All the latest rumors seem to be indicating subaru is going to be announcing something big at the rim of the world rally next month anyway.

I don't think a petition would solve/do anything, honestly.

There's one thing that will bring the STi here, and that's good sales of the standard WRX. If the WRX continues to sell well, then there won't be much hesitation by SOA to bring the STi version. However, if sales of the WRX start dwindling, they won't bring it over. And I don't blame them.

People signing something saying they want a car here doesn't actually mean all those people will buy one. They need proof in sales numbers, not from what people wish for.

Unfortuneatly I don't think Subaru will be hurting all that bad if they don't bring the Sti over to compete with the Evo. In the end you have to remember that they are probabley more interested in selling all of their Legacy/Outbacks and Foresters which make up much bigger percent of their profits then the STi would in the USA. The WRX's will still sell when the EVO comes (IMO) because of the price difference, reliability, and then there is always the WRX wagon that will still be very unique and practical to US buyers.

I agree 100% with Rev. A lot of people are saying the Evo VII will "force" Subaru to import the STi. I don't think so.

Agreed, I don't think Subaru will be hurting money-wise, but reputation-wise and marketing-wise they will. Plus, I think it's eventually profitable to have a 'super-car' in a manufacturer's line-up to help spark sales on all their other models. Look at Honda, Nissan, Chevy, and all the others. It's a pride thing.

Also, regarding the list, I think Subaru needs to call the dealers around the US and find out how many people are on a waiting list for an STI (even without official confirmation!!) ....just called one in NY and they have over 20 people! Granted, it's a large dealer, but multiply that (or even 1/4 of that) by the amount of dealers and we're talking a lot of potential buyers.

Yeah I know in my town Subaru is not hurting for business. 800 million mothers I see driving foresters/outbacks around every day.

Alot of the people that bought wrx's bought them because of the bang for your buck. Not the reputation or any of that stuff. It the evo costs like 4 grand more than a wrx it WILL hurt the sales. people will be able to justify fianancing a little more to get that much better of a car. BUT this is a big IF. Nobody knows the spec for the evo. It could be a joke, allready the rumors are that all the electronic gadgets have been nixed....And that was alot of the evos power over the imprezza.

I wouldnt worry about EVO sales hurting WRX sales. Most of the people intersted in the EVO dont have much interest in the WRX anyways. Yes there will be cross-shopping, BUT, lots of DSM owners have been sitting around, waiting for something worthwhile to come along to replace their aging cars (like myself), for them the EVO is the answer. Esp since they are already somewhat familiar with the motor and the pains and joys of owning a mitsubishi.

If anything that will hurts WRX sales its the corporate mindset at Subaru. If they stop pormoting it and leave it to sail on its own wings (like Chysler did with the Talon and Mitsu with the previous generation Eclipse), then that could indeed hurt the WRX's future.
