Well I did about as good as I thought I was going to. I got a bad start on the first run since I had not been to the track in so long. On the second run I got a great launch which put me back in the seat. I also have heavier wheels and had a full tank of gas
. The wheels I have weigh about 7 lbs more each w/tire and I think I will knock at least .3 off my time with the stock ones on. I might go next week with the stock wheels and less gas and see if I can get a 14 flat or maybe high thirteens. I plan on getting Engine Management and a VF23 to put me in the 13s. I put some 100 octane in to help the pinging and it does indeed help. I beat my third Mustang GT and let me tell you there is nothing like the look on a guy's face when he gets smoked by a Subaru. At least this one was at the TRACK. His friends were yelling to him "smoke that thing, come on" and I blew him away . Nothing makes you feel better than being the winning "underdog."Also: I am using the legacy turbo setup with the IHI RHB52 VF8, Rallispec intercooler, at 5 psi. Oh well I thought it was fun and the car is now 1.5 seconds faster than when I had intake and could only get around 16 flat. scootr

Scoort, good times man!
When did you get the RalliSpec put in? I'd love to see some pictures of your setup, just to compare, since we have practically the same turbo system. Your right, no one seems to do the quarter anymore, me included. I think I'm just a little to worried about my transmission, but I'm a wimp. I'll get out there soon I promise. I'd love to see some setup pics, and nice job on doing the Rustang a favor! Graham |

Graham,
I am wondering how you had the tube from the turbo to the intercooler made. A guy I know at a muffler shop is going to try to cut a 180 mandrel bend to make it fit in that tight spot. I think it can be done, but I want it to be smooth on the inside for nice flow. I would be ashamed to take pictures right now because I have an excess amount of silicone 90s and tubing to go between the intercooler and the turbo. I need something clean like yours. What size tubing did you use? scootr |

Scootr- I had my turbo to intercooler pipe (charge pipe) made by a race shop who does custom fabrication. They ordered all the aluminium bends and then welded them together to make a sweet looking pipe. Also, due to the location of the Legacy turbo if you are using the Legacy uppipe (which I am), I had to have that 90 degree bend on the turbo cut and rotated, thats why I have my intake sitting in the fender well.
What I am amazed at is how you are managing to get the Legacy turbo and the RalliSpec intercooler to fit. When I put mine in (remember this is due to the location the Legacy uppipe puts the turbo) I had to clock my turbo from pointing parallel to the ground towards the drivers fire wall, around back toward the PASSENGER side parallel to the ground. Did you have to clock your turbo at all to get the silicone to fit? I know you don't want to put up a bad picture, but I'm interested to see how you concocted your setup to make it work, just to compare. Graham |

I had to clock the turbo with the rallispec intercooler, it points right between the power steering lines. I actually had to undo the brackets that hold the power steering lines to the engine to give them a little slack. It works for now, but thing are going to have to be done differently in the future. My BOV is about a cm away from the turbo, very close.
