Default MAIC, recommend me a tire?

So I've been driving around on my stock 06 wheels with the stock tires on them all winter long. I planned on making it until summer time when i would throw my summer wheels and tires on and at some point over the summer i would replace my stock tires and get a proper set of winter tires for my stock/winter wheels.

Well, it just happens that one of my stock tires had a nail in it. I took it to mr. tire to get it patched and they said the sidewall is worn on the inside of the tire and is ruined

So basically, i need some suggestions. I have my summer tires and wheels on right now...

Would you keep the summer wheels and tires on and just ride them out until the end of summer? This would be cool because it would give me some time to save for a nice set of winter tires.

Or should i get the summer wheels off asap, in which case, what tire do you recommend for my winter wheels? At Mr. Tire, they were suggesting Blizzaks and Eagle GT-IIs

I purchased my Falken 452's from them and I've been very happy with them. They have very fair prices.

Edge Racing went out of business.

OP, what are you looking for WRT a "winter" tire?

OP, you can try Discount Tire or City Tire Online.

The FK452s are a good all around tire, but if you're going to have seperate wheels & tires for summer and winter why not move up to a more aggressive summer tire like Star Specs?

For winter tires, get a decent all season. We don't see enough snow to warrant a full set of blizzaks (Though if you really want Blizzaks I'll be selling mine soon ).

For the amount of snow we actually get around here, full blown snow tires are overkill IMO. I think you'll be alright to keep the summer tires on. I think the really bad weather is done for the year.

I run the BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S on my Mazda3 and I've been very happy with them. Decent dry grip, great in the rain, and suprisingly good in the snow. I made a trip up to NJ right after they got about 8" of snow. My friend's uphill driveway hadn't been plowed and we made it right up. And that's just with FWD.

NOOOOOOO!

I haven't been to their website in a while. I didn't even think to look. I ran my 452's all winter. I got to drive in a little bit of ice and snow with no problems.

I should try to be more clear as to what i have and what i want

Right now, i have a set of Volk GT-Vs and some all sease Kumho's. I'm sure they can handle whatever comes my way from here until next winter, i just don't really feel like having them on there in case it snows again because of all the salt and crud... basically, i'm trying to keep my Volk's shiny

As for what WAS on the car, its just stock 06 wrx wheels and the stock potenza's. I think what mav1c said is probably true, full blown snow tires are probably a bit overkill for MD winters. So what tires would you suggest for my winter/beater wheels? I guess i could get the potenza's again... basically i just want something that will handle the maryland elements well and not sound/look terrible. Money is kind of an issue too... i would like to spend as little as possible, but still get something quality... i guess that's how everyone approaches everything they buy though

Also, Mr. Tire is trying to sell me the Eagle GT-II's for about $140 a pop and the Blizzak's are about $200. I know that tirerack and other online sites are going to be cheaper, i am just using this as a reference.

Bridgestone RE960AS are some of the best reviewed.

Depends on what the difference in overall circumference between the old and new tires is. You might be fine, but you'll have to measure.

leave the summer setup on. save for a set of re960as, falken ze912, bfg supersport a/s, or the like for your stock wheels. and then get rid of the crap allseasons on your volks for some real summer tires...

They're "all seasons" - good at everything, great at nothing.

FWIW, I had no issues last Monday, and when I had to leave it was a good 4 miles before I got to a road that had been plowed.
