Default Turbo RS vs WRX

how much horsepower do turbo RS usually put out? and how much do you have to spend to make one beat a WRX? I was racing an RS and i think he cheated by using NOS!!!

I doubt it.

Mine is a very mild implementation of a turbo, and I'm running about 220 hp.

And it weighs some 300lb less.

And the torque curve is distributed somewhat lower.

No need for NAWS to smoke you.

Who said NOS is cheating?

Obviously it is an advantage to a car that doesn't have NOS, but when the bottles empty ya better go home.

Just like it's an advantage to have a car with the turbo, or supercharger, or any other power adder. People who say Nitrous users are "cheating" are just sore losers.

nitrous is a big can of worms,

people that get beat by a person running nitrous says that they cheated by using nitrous.

then people running nitrous that get beat have an entire book compiled for nitrous related excuses.

an excerpt:

"'My bottle was too cold.'
'My bottle was too hot.'
'I didn't have enough bottle pressure.'
'There was air in the lines.'
Just use any of these nitrous related excuses and you too
will make it sound like your car could beat anybody on the street."

end exceprt.

as for the initial question, a turbo RS running relatively low boost is about right on par with a WRX, my dyno run was putting out about the same as a stock wrx ~176 wheel hp on cobb's dyno. that was with detonation, a slipping clutch, and a new problem I found, a bad plug wire connection. I need money to tune this thing better.
my friend has a stock WRX wagon, and got 191 hp at the wheels, that is unheard of, cobb says they typically see anywhere between 160-180 for a stock wrx, they get faster the more they are broken in.

back to work,

eli

I'm almost certain my car could take a WRX. I'm running around 4 psi, and I pulled away from one the other day at a Subie meet down here, but this was in 2nd-3rd gear. Probably would be the same for off the line, 1st gear pulls to SO hard.

I really do need to find out how well my car does against a REX....

okay man you got owned by a RS-T GET OVER IT!! stop whining about it...he didn't use Nitrous....the car has a legacy urbo setup witha Tec-2....he's spent about what your WRX costed new. Most RS-T's make 180 whp w/ 170 wtq on 7 psi. your wrx makes 166 whp...stop cyring.

My car was once faster than a WRX and running only 5psi, and all that with the Haltech holding back the timing and a rich fuel mixture. Who knows how fast it could be once the maps are tuned more aggressively. Too bad the thing don't run now

My turbo RS running 2-3psi was dead even with a stock WRX.

Face it buddy you got smoked. Its not the end of the world though. Also just because he beat you doesnt mean he was using nos. But if he was he still beat you. Hey dont trip we all win some and loose some.

Boy you guys are running low boost. I'd say crank it up a notch or a few and start eating Corvettes for lunch.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention displacement. EJ25 is 25% bigger than a EJ20...even with the same turbo same pessure EJ25 will generate more power.

Have a Nice Day? Excuses, Excuses

True, MOST people with nitrous will tend to give reasons for getting beat. I myself have nitrous, but if you beat me, you beat me. The same could be said for some turbo guys:

Dont have the boost controller.
Bad weather.
etc.

Everyone has their excuses, but if you lost while using your prefered power adder, I believe the term is "RUN WHAT U BRUNG".

OMFG you are such a damn kid!!! Guys please see this thread:

http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...hreadid=171095

This insecure looser is PISSED that he got beat by someone. Hes had his WRX for under 2 weeks and is racing people without even breaking it in properly. But its his car so who cares.

His attitude of not being able to comprehend loosing is pathetic. Why do dealers sell good cars to people who are so immature?

Oh well.. it was funny at first, but this guy is just getting down right sad.

Wrx_n_effect, dont worry you will be beat by many more people down the road. You bought a WRX not a Porsche RUF GT2, you have 227 Hp not 500. So dont be pissed when some NON turbo car like a Z06 dusts you.

I just got my car done and let me tell you. At .24 bar I run neck and neck with a WRX. At .50 bar, its no contest. I love seeing the faces of the WRX owners when they get whooped on by a RS.

I just realized I'm probably confusing him putting it in bar. So here you go- .24 bar= roughly 3.5psi .50 bar= 7psi

Sure the RS-T tends to be faster than the WRX even with the most basic kits, but I think every RS-T owner will agree that it isn't all beer and skittles. Driving a car with a "mutt" drivetrain, and a misc assortment of parts isn't as safe feeling as driving off the show room floor with a factory setup.

Not an excuse, its just the two are different, and a WRX with mods will head down the same "is it going to break today" road that any modified car goes down including the RS-T's.
