Pulleys: Pro's and Con's?

I'm looking to get a set of pulleys but I don't know much about them or how they effect the engine over time. Can someone please give me a little insight?

There's no truly definitive answer. You'll get a ton of back and forth over how they're good and how they'll make your engine explode in 50 miles. The best way to get information without starting a flame war is to just do a search. There've been a couple VERY extensive debates as to how good or bad they are:
