Default More top end?

So far all I have on my WRX is a MBC set at 15 psi. I love the way the power comes on so strong, but then it feels like it dies. Anyone have any advice for what mods I should go for if my goal is higher top end?

Without going to an upgraded turbo - which isn't worth all that much without exhaust, programming, etc $$$$

I would start with a quality turbo back exhaust.
A turbo back exhaust will definately help your top end. By top end I'm talking about 60 - 110mph range.

Without a turbo up grade my car pulls real strong anywhere under 100mph. Over 100mph you will definately need an up graded turbo.

I ran dead even from 40mph up to 100mph with an LS1 WS6 T.A.
Those cars are extremely strong from a roll. '
Before my stage 2 kit , I would have been totally killed racing in that mph range.

You ran even from 40 - 100mph with an LS1 with just Stage 2?

Cool, thanks.
I was really really turned off when i started seeing timeslips with like 95 MPH trap speeds. The car launches great and pulls amazing, but then dies at like the top of 3rd gear on.

I used to have a 450hp LS1, z28. (low 12 sec - 1/4 mile) Several of my friends have LS1 powered vehicles. Believe me, I know more than the average person when it comes to LS1's. The are very fast right off the lot.

Fact. I have beaten every stock or near stock LS1 , I have ever raced in the 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile with my WRX. I have raced at least 10 or more different LS1's. Most stock or near stock LS1's run mid to high 13s in the 1/4 mile at our local tracks. I know they are capable of much better times, but thats what they are running at our track.
Fact. I have raced several LS1s from a roll and at speeds under 100mph I can easily keep up. Like I said I ran one LS1 WS6 from around 40mph up to 100mph and we were dead even. I gone from a roll many times with friends of mine with very similar results. When we go at it from a stop, I win hands down every time.

Fact- I would get killed at speeds over 100mph. They have tons of power over 100mph. Running at 150 + mph is nothing for an LS1.

Do you think with a turbo upgrade such as PE1820 or Garret hybrid we can easily walk some modified LS1s ? What else can we expect to be even or even win? (Vette's, Stangs, Etc)

Not 100+

It's a simple matter of gearing now...

And the extra driveline drag becomes a hinderance as well.

And the aerodynamics suck

The WRX simply could not compete in a top speed competition.

Exclamation Turbo Turbo Turbo

Dude, the VF22 is a great mid-top end turbo. but you'd need some other mods i'd say.

As someone on these borads once said, "If you want to break the land speed record do not attempt it in a car shaped like a loaf of bread!"

As far as helping top end I suspect you have a few options.

New up-pipe and turbo back exhaust

New silicone intercooler hoses - The turbo will be doing the same amount of work, but the work will be more efficient, allowing the engine to breath better at higher RPMs

New, larger TMIC - Same idea as above

If you wan't a stock looking turbo, you may look at the forced performance turbo. It moves a lot more air than the stocker, although even it will die off some at the higher end.
