Default start up issues! help

Well i spun a rod a bearing a while back and now i have just finished rebuilding the motor. Everything went together smooth and didnt have too many problems until now!

Heres the issue. The engine runs but has a steady miss and will not take r's over 2 thousand. When held at low idle it doesnt sound too bad but anything beyond that it sputters and backfires out the pipe.

Ran a compression test and all cylinders are good. When i had it hooked up to the laptop the timing was all over the place so tomorrow im going to take a timing light to it to make sure the readings are correct.

Current mods include:

bc stage 3 cams
bc valve springs and retainers
TS06 20g with 3in inlet and 8cm exhaust
PE 850cc injectors
AP Fuel rails
Large TMIC
Header with catless TBE
12mm oil pump

don't bother with the light, just take the timing cover off and check the marks by rotating. The light is more useful for distibutor cars, less for electronic on-coil timing like ours.

If the cam timing is correct, I would be looking for a big air leak between the mass air meter and the throttle body.
