Default Drag Tires/Wheel Size for High HP, Low ET...

What is everyone running on their 600+hp, 9 sec drag monsters? I will be getting my car together late in the season and need to know what has been the best setup for wheels and tires. I know some are running 16's, but Brembos won't fit with 16's, so are there better options? Searched, but all I find are old threads...

Junior, PR guys, Speed, etc... Help!

I know this might not be the right place to post this, but since this is where all of the people who would know hang out, I thought I would post it anyway.

Thanks!

Thanks!

If you dont want to get rid of the brembos, the only option that I can think about is M/T motorcycle slick in 17

Cheers

You can get drag radials in 225 45 17 probably some other sizes that work too. Not as good as slicks though.

I ran back to back 1.57 60' with the bfg drag radials 225/45/17 and they were not clean launches either. Hooked great in 2nd gear unlike my old kumho mx's.

^^^ yes i have also had multiple low 1.50 60fts with the bfg's.seems to be a good combo and you have to remember the harder you hook up especially with slicks the more **** thats going to break.

Thanks guys, how about if the car is a 800-900hp car? Same suggestions? How about smaller wheels or swapping out brembos for something lighter, smaller? Really trying to weigh all of the possibilities!!! Thanks.

800 or 900 hp.... are we still talking Subaru here? I would not change the braking system for something smaller/lighter if the car still sees a lot of street. If it's a drag only car, sure.

My 2 cents....

My 16" wheels fit over Brembos. Some modification required.

16" wheels open up your slick options as compared to 17's, but plenty of guys are running fast on the 17" motorcycle slicks.

If it's a drag only car running 9's I'd go 15" wheels, drag specific small/light brakes, and put a chute on it.

That's the first time I've heard of anyone running 16" wheels and Brembos. How did you do it?

You could convert over to WRX brakes and use a nice rim like the Bogarts.. Your options are unlimited with a 16" wheel from them. Very lightweight as well

Anybody know if 16x8 +42 Volk CE28's fit over Brembos or what it would take to make them fit?

I found a post that mentioned that CCW will make 16's to fit over the Brembos. I wonder if this would be cheaper than buying wheels and modifying them. Do they machine the inner circumference of the wheel somehow? If so is that safe? Sorry to bring this up again, I couldn't find the info when I searched.
