not 100% sure this goes in this section, but I didnt really see anywhere better, I would have to double post to put in the 2.0 and 2.5 sections. If there is a better place please let me know I will move it
I will be putting a VF37 with a 20G wheel in it on saturday. this is an upgrade from my 16g, which I have an external wastegate on, my question is, does anyone have an EWG on the OEM twinscroll up pipe? if so do you have any pictures? what are yall's thoughts about doing this? I know the gains since I have an ewg set up now, and I love the sound and would like to keep it, just not sure of how to do it

I'm would like to do this also. Right now I have a vf36 but waiting to replace it with AVO's gt30r jdm twinscroll location turbo. You have to find a fabricator in your area and he'll most likely need your car to mock one up. If not hit up Kelly from CovertPerformance a vendor in this forum.

i got a guy to do it, but i dont know what under the heat sheilding, i have read that it is stainless, but i dont know for sure, i will be putting the set up on this saturday, i finaly have all my parts and, and the turbo willbe a vf37 that has been ported polished worked over, and had a 20g wheel put in it. no i bought a vf22 that is on its way, and i will be taking the CHRA and putting all my stuff from the VF37 in it, so i will basicly have a vf36 with a 20g wheel. i have been reading up on the avo turbo, knew it was modeld after the avo550, but i did know how big that was. sound like a good up grade if it all works out well, i dont see what they couldnt just manufactur a twin scroll housing and stick it on, just increase the A/R on it, and open the the turbine housing for a bigger exhaust wheel.
but back on subject, i saw somone wanted to do it, just dont remember who, or if they ever did it, i just want my EWG, to help with boost issues |

I was toying with an idea of EWG my VF36 and rotate it, rotate intake mani and have the shortest FMIC piping as possible
results would not justify the costs ![]() apparently lachute is working on EWG twinscroll uppipe or something... |

if the piping is stainless tubing or any kinda of tubing it shouldnt much of a problem as long as it isnt like the stock sti uppipe. Just have to notch up some tubing the same dia as the runners on the uppipe, and then either use a notcher to put a hole on the uppipe tubing or do it the slow way and grind away with a bit.
Have you thought about just getting the gtspec jdm twinscroll piping and doing ewg setups on that? |

is it off the car? Why dont you just look behind the shielding and see if its tubing or not, should answer your questions

The jdm header and uppipe is stainless steel behind the heat shields.

Hey what's up Meth. If i have some twinscroll uppipe flanges, how much do you think it would be to have a single EWG fabricated? I too am going off the OEM setup. Ballpark estimations are fine. Also I'm wondering how long it will all take to be complete. Thanks in advance |

I don't understand the problem... bleed off the outside radius of each runner, collect to EWG. done. you need to have the capability to create the holes necessary and the capability to weld them. It's like the reverse of a custom EWG recirculation.

I wanted to keep my stock uppipe and create another one solely for EWG. This way I have an option to switch back if I wanted. I know that comment may not be directed at me but I think it's fairly easy. I just wonder about cost and I want to know who is capable of creating it in the SCIC area.

Ideally two is better. I think we have come to a consensus about that. Speaking for myself, my car is still my daily driver and I don't have anything on the line in terms of competitive racing where I need every edge possible. I would to make this as best as possible but there is a point where I am foolish to spend all of the money I make to complete my mods leaving me eating ramen, not affording future rent, gas, etc. etc.
That all being said, I will probably go with a single v-band EWG. I want the runner to be separate as far the WG flange. It should be suitable for my situation and it should still be better than me not using a EWG period. Anyone know where I can go in SCIC Long Beach, Cerritos, LA, Costa Mesa area to get this done? Or would Covert Performance be able to do this without my car? |
